We are hiring an experienced operator who is comfortable running fixtures for CPP/Chem/Veg up to MR in size. You have good communication skills and know how to run with a fixture from lifting subjects to settlement of any claims keeping everyone informed and ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible.

The main purpose of a Ship Broker is to act as a specialist intermediary/negotiator between shipowners and charterers to arrange ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea, the employment of a vessel or to buy/ sell ships on behalf of a client. We have a fantastic opportunity fora talented Trainee Broker to join our Specialised Products team in our Singapore office. You will work alongside our experienced Brokers to help strengthen relationships with existing clients for sales and help develop new business.

Ideally you will have some broking experience and be keen to develop your experience. You will be driven and self-motivated and be a strong relationship builder.

What you will be doing

·      Support the day-to-day activities of the Senior Brokers on the Specialised Products desk

·      Instigate, arrange and negotiate deals, including relationship building to develop business

·      Maintain a database of daily market activities and keep track of vessel positions

·      Negotiate charters to achieve optimum results for clients

·      Provide market insight and trade ideas to clients

·      Build strong rapport with existing clients and develop business with new clients

·      Interact with clients to establish a close working relationship

·      Attend meetings and events with clients when required

·      Maintain databases and prepare market information and reports for clients

·      Maintain internal dataflow of key market information

Working alongside in an existing team of brokers in London and Mumbai to engage in the sale, purchase, newbuilding, and demolition of all types of ocean-going tonnage. Working closely with our Projects desk and supported by a team of analysts to identify commercial opportunities for our clients, whilst also identifying and developing new potential business.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

- Building strong relationships with existing and new clients for enduring business support, and providing information, face to face, via telephone and email.
- Commitment to include face to face relationship building individually and with colleagues.
- Facilitating and executing deals between two parties both directly and co-broking with colleagues to profitably generate income from servicing existing and new clients.
- Analysing market data to understand, shipping flows and market trends, and assimilate market intelligence and trends to support clients, colleagues and internal research.
