1. Purpose of job

Technician in the Infrastructural UHPC department is supporting research and development activities of the Employer, maintains premises and equipment on a regular basis and assists with other tasks regarding UHPC research, testing and development as provided by the supervisors.

2. Subordination

The immediate supervisor of the Employee is Team Lead, Infrastructural UHPC.

The Employee may receive instructions and will report to the Director of research and development or other Employer’s management function representatives.

3. Primary duties and responsibilities

3.1. To support engineers in their research and development activities.

3.2. To conduct in-house sample testing (compression, flexural, RCPT) and QC checks.

3.3. To demold casted samples and make molds available for new castings.

3.4. To manage and track casted samples for curing and testing, including curing tank.

3.5. To handle and manage research and development of raw materials (cement, sand, SCMs, admixtures and fibers), including topping supply bins, packing material into smaller packs etc.

3.6. To assist in keeping track of research and development material usage and inventory level.

3.7. To handle production of blended material for research and development, samples for potential clients or small volume sales to clients.

3.8. To maintain laboratory equipment, molds and tools.

3.9. To maintain cleanliness of sample storage, testing, casting area and UHPC laboratory.

3.10. To assist in ad-hoc tasks which may be assigned by Engineer, Team Lead or Management representatives.

3.11. To ensure safe workplace and always follow personal safety without any compromise

3.12. To report results on time & seek advice from supervisor immediately if there is any dispute in the results

3.13. To be able to understand trouble shoot procedures if there are any issues with equipment or working place

3.14. To maintain & monitor daily records such as Temperature, Humidity & PH in the curing areas

3.15. To participate in continuous lab improvement activities

3.16. To be physically fit and able to carry 20kg weights

3.17. To be ready for overtime whenever it requires for urgent project work

4. Education and experience

4.1. Diploma or National ITE Certificate (NITEC) in a technical field of study. Lower education level may also be considered.

4.2. 1-3 years working experience as a technician or production worker.

4.3. Responsible, attentive to details, hardworking, team player, positive attitude

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to lead the research, development, and commercialization of nano-engineered Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) products for infrastructure applications. This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of UHPC projects—from mix design and laboratory testing to product optimization and on-site validation. The successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations, ensure equipment maintenance, establish and manage standard operating procedures, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians.

The position requires strong leadership in driving strategic and daily project activities, including material evaluation, formulation development, and performance testing (mechanical and durability). The candidate will also be responsible for preparing technical reports, proposals, and providing regular progress updates to management. In addition, active participation in project meetings, both locally and internationally, will be key to supporting planning, troubleshooting, and client engagements.

Primary duties and responsibilities

o To manage and perform research and develop (nano-engineered) ultra high performance concrete products (UHPC) for infrastructure applications.

o To be responsible for the product/system assigned (from mix design to R&D to commercialization) on a strategical and operational levels.

o To lead evaluation and optimization of construction materials e.g. cement, sand, supplementary contentious materials into various UHPC formulations.

o To establish and handle various laboratory tests related to concrete properties measurements (mechanical and durability testing etc.).

o To supervise laboratory and on-site work.

o To be responsible for assigned laboratory equipment and tools, ensure their careful usage by the team.

o To provide daily work progress update to management.

o To lead or participate in weekly UHPC team meetings and local/overseas discussions aimed at project planning, troubleshooting and other.

o To prepare reports/proposals for management/client when required.

o To undertake other tasks and ad-hoc activities assigned by the Employer’s management.

o To manage strategic and daily work of Technicians and Engineers of various levels working on Infrastructural UHPC projects (team leadership).

o To manage laboratories setup, maintenance and cleanliness.

o To be in charge and manage standard operating procedures.

Position Requirement

o At least a Bachelor Degree/Master’s degree of Engineering in Civil/Structure, Material Science or Chemical studies.

o At least 5 years of relevant working experience (concrete mixture and concrete development).

o Able to lead and coach a team.

o Responsible, attentive to details, hardworking, team player, positive attitude.

o Excellent leadership skills.
