The Pastoral Team Staff (Seniors) role is responsible for providing pastoral leadership, care, and ministry support to the Seniors Ministry (SM) in partnership with the Seniors Ministry volunteers. It will require a willingness to work on non-traditional schedules which includes evenings and weekends, with the flexibility to get time off on a weekday.

Main Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Plan, organize, collaborate, and communicate with the pastoral team, volunteers and seniors to implement Senior Ministry programmes and activities. These may include but are not limited to:

• Twice-weekly Zoom Fellowship (Friday & Sunday)
• Weekly Sunday Canteen Fellowship
• Monthly Brunch Fellowship
• Monthly Seniors Chapel
• Monthly BRMC Seniors – MGS Intergenerational Activity
• Monthly Shalom Dementia Care Fellowship

2. Provide pastoral care and support to Seniors in a timely and effective manner; including visiting home/hospital-bound seniors.

3. Provide basic counselling to seniors as well as volunteers, and to make referral to church pastors and Care Centre where necessary.

4. Identify, recruit, support/care, and equip volunteers

• Identify, engage, select, equip and deploy volunteers to serve in the Seniors Ministry. This includes developing effective strategies to engage, equip, and recruit family members.
• Ensure Senior Ministry leaders belong to a Connect Group or some form of support group.
• Organize spiritual nurture and equipping sessions for volunteers

5. Collaborate with external agencies for the purpose of developing effective strategies and skills for the Seniors Ministry.

Others:
Carry out additional responsibilities when assigned by the Pastor-in-Charge and/or the pastor overseeing the area of ministry.

• Serving as a Service Pastoral Team Staff during weekend church services.
• Conducting of wake services.
• Conducting hospital/home visits of non-senior church members.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Theology, Divinity, or other relevant theological training
• At least 2 years relevant ministry experience working with Seniors/involvement in Seniors Ministry/Pastoral Care. Prior ministry experience working in a church or Christian organization will be preferred.
• An understanding of the history and doctrines of the Methodist Church.
• Aligned to the vision and mission of the church.
• Able to work independently under minimal supervision.

The incumbent will be required to work closely with the Pastor, Connect Pillar & Programme Executive (Connect), Connect Group Ministry committee and volunteers in the coordination & planning of the events, programmes, activities in the Connect Group ministry as well as relationally journey alongside and shepherd the CGM leaders by providing pastoral care, spiritual & ministry leadership, training and discipleship.

This role will require a willingness to work on non-traditional schedules which includes evenings, weekends, and occasional public holidays, with the flexibility to get time off on a weekday.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Connect Pillar, Pastor in overseeing, leading, and growing the Connect Group Ministry
• Plan ministry events, activities, programmes, and campaigns
• Ensure the CGM committee’s plans and direction are aligned with the church’s vision and direction
• Serve as a deputy Zone Leader and/or Cluster Leader which includes visitation to Cluster Leaders/Connect Group Leaders/Connect Groups and providing pastoral/spiritual care and development to Cluster Leaders and Connect Group Leaders
• Develop and implement Connect Group Ministry structure towards more effective pastoral care and community life within the Connect Groups
• Recommend and develop curriculum for Connect Groups
• Assist in the formation of new Connect Groups and placement of new/existing members in Connect Groups
• Collaborate with other ministries in Connect Group Ministry objectives
• Execute all programmes and activities with sound budgeting and financial management, and in compliance with church policies and guidelines
• Represent the pastors’ office in the absence of the Connect pastor, especially during Connect Group Committee and volunteer meetings
• Carry out any other roles, responsibilities, duty as assigned by the church

OTHERS

• Serve as a Service Pastoral Team Staff during weekend church services and other church events as rostered
• Participate and attend church leadership and staff meetings and ministry-related meeting

QUALIFICATIONS

• Qualifications with relevant experience of at least 2 years in the area of Christian discipleship/Connect Group ministry; with theological qualifications preferred. Pastoral education qualifications and/or hands-on ministry experience will be a plus

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Spiritual Nurture (feed, train, protect, encourage):
a) Feed – Organise devotions, bible studies etc and other aspects of spiritual formation to Church School teachers;
b) Train –

i) Initiate and organise training and development for Church School teachers so that they are kept abreast of the latest teaching materials and methodology;
ii) Build up in-house training programs by developing training curriculum for Church School;

c) Protect – Organise prayer and fellowship meetings;
d) Encourage –

i) Initiate opportunities to provide support (pastoral care & counselling) to Church School teachers in their spiritual journey;
ii) Walk along and disciple the children in their spiritual journey.

2. Planning & Organising:
a) Assist the Committee or be responsible (whenever called upon) in planning, organising and the smooth running of Church School activities that is aligned to its ministry objectives;
b) Ensure that all such activities are relevant in meeting the needs and objectives of the Church School in the prevailing environment;
c) Ensure that all activities are aligned to the church calendar of events and where there are conflicts, to recommend alternatives to resolve such conflicts;
d) Recommend and implement strategies to attract, engage, inspire and retain Church School participation;

3. To develop effective strategies to engage parents to raise awareness of the Church School as well as their participation in the ministry;

4. Pastors’ Office representative:
a) Liaise between the Ministry Committee and the Pastors’ Office;
b) Monitor the state of the Ministry and feedback to the Pastors’ Office

5. To carry out additional responsibilities when assigned by pastors or immediate supervisors in current ministry and/or other ministries

These duties and responsibilities span across all age groups—including children, youth, young adults, older adults and seniors—as needed or as directed by the Head of Ministry (HOM). PTS may also be called upon to assist in areas beyond their immediate job scope as and when required.

The role will involve supporting the outreach ministry goals—specifically in the areas of the Tuition Programme, Praise Kidz, and Social Concerns, by working closely with the Head of Ministry (HOM), Pastors, and relevant committees. It will require a willingness to work on non-traditional schedules which includes evenings and weekends, with the flexibility to get time off on a weekday.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CORE MINISTRIES

1. Sunday Service Ministry

• Event Coordination: Organize enrichment activities and appreciation events for students and tutors.
• Volunteer Management & Mentorship: Recruit and mentor volunteer tutors, and provide recognition, VIA certification, and testimonials for individual and group contributions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with partner schools and Epworth Community Services.
• Resource Development: Develop and manage resources to support the tuition programme’s goals and effectiveness.

4. Praise Kidz Outreach Programme

• Programme Support: Support the planning and running of this community-based outreach programme that engages community children and introduces them to the gospel.
• Child Engagement: Support and work with volunteers in building trusting relationships with the children through mentorship and meaningful interaction.
• Family Outreach: Conduct home visits to connect with families, strengthen relationships, and share the gospel.

5. Social Concerns

• Financial Aid Coordination: Manage applications and disbursements for Seasonal Love Gifts and Educational Bursaries to support those in need.
• Community Outreach: Organize outreach efforts that mobilize congregation members to serve and bless the wider community through service projects.
• Pastoral Care & Visitation: Provide emotional and practical support through home visits and regular engagement with individuals and families facing hardship.

This includes facilitation of stakeholder meetings, engaging with vendors/volunteers, students and parents, overseeing logistics and publicity, maintaining accurate records, and utilizing appropriate technology, as well as supporting other ministries as needed.
