Responsibilities
Assist in construction and basic design development phase. Preparation of equipment, technical specifications, general arrangement, detailed equipment compartment layouts, space coordination and equipment list.
Review all mechanical equipment, vendor’s proposals for technical accuracy and constructability. Understand sizing of equipment and prepare equipment specification.
Prepare working drawings, establish design criteria standards specification and mechanical construction guideline drawings.
Develop and check an equipment’s handing study for marine spaces and decks.
Check submittals and prepare the installation or construction drawings when needed.
Perform site visits to solve engineering problems when required to determine existing conditions or verify new construction.
Develop and check marine and drilling system PFDs or P&IDs, including equipment size systems and calculate pump system pressure losses.
Coordinate / execute contract specification requirements and production inputs into engineering drawing / document.
Provide progress reporting and schedule management of engineering deliverables.
Coordinate with other production team members, subcontractors and consultants to resolve technical issues onsite which affect the mechanical schedule and project deliverables.
Meet with vendors, client reps, accreditation representatives when required.
Review and reply to class comments.
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Ensure compliance to relevant government regulations and company’s quality, safety, health and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices and procedures at all times.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working in a marine/offshore industry and a Diploma in mechanical or marine or related engineering discipline or minimum 6 years working in a marine/offshore industry.
Prior experience in newbuild andconversion of AHTS.
Possessing knowledge in HVAC systems, piping, and mechanical equipment.
Familiarity with Marine & Offshore rules, regulations and requirements.
Knowledge of Intergraph Software will be an added advantage.
Good communication skills, meticulous, resourceful, able to multi-task.

Interpret structure-related documents and drawings. Come up with structural material-take off and drawings for tender submission. Ensure conformance to contractual technical specifications, classification and statutory rules/regulations.
Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and calculations, for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Utilise specialised software and tools for hydrodynamic analysis, stability assessment, structural analysis, and other relevant calculations.
Evaluate and ensure the structural integrity, stability, and sea keeping performance of vessels through rigorous analysis and testing.
Provide expertise in load distribution, weight estimation, and stability criteria to optimize vessel design.
Choose appropriate materials for vessel construction based on factors such as strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness.
Liaise with production team to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications during the construction process.
Participate in tests and trials, where required.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working in a marine/offshore industry and a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine or related engineering discipline or minimum 10 years working in a Marine/Offshore industry with some engineering experience.
Familiarity with Marine & Offshore rules, regulations and requirements.
Proficient in AutoCad with the ability to produce detailed production engineering drawings.
Proficiency in Intergraph or any related 3D CAD software knowledge is required.
Experience in basic design engineering for OSVs like Workboats, PSVs and AHTS would be advantageous.
Good written and spoken English.
Good communication skills, meticulous, resourceful, able to multi-task.
