We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Family Lawyer to handle a full spectrum of family law matters, including divorce, children issues, maintenance, and division of matrimonial assets.
You will manage files independently, advise clients strategically, and represent clients in proceedings before the Family Justice Courts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Case Management & Legal Advisory
- Advise clients on divorce (contested and uncontested, including DMA)
- Provide strategic advice on custody, care & control, and access
- Assess and advise on maintenance (spousal and child)
- Handle division of matrimonial assets under the Women’s Charter
2. Drafting & Documentation
- Draft pleadings
- Prepare affidavits
- Draft consent orders, settlement agreements, and parenting plans
- Prepare legal submissions for hearings and ancillary matters
3. Court & Litigation Work
- Attend court hearings, case conferences, and mediations
- Conduct negotiations with opposing counsel
- Handle enforcement proceedings (e.g. maintenance enforcement, committal)
- Manage timelines and filings in compliance with the Family Justice Rules 2024
4. Client Management
- Manage client expectations and provide practical, solution-oriented advice
- Handle sensitive and high-conflict situations with professionalism
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients
Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore
- Preferably 2–7 years PQE in family law (strong NQ with relevant experience may be considered)
Technical Skills
- Strong drafting and litigation skills
- Solid understanding of the Women’s Charter 1961, divorce procedures and ancillary matters, Court processes, and eLitigation system
- Ability to handle files independently with minimal supervision
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- High emotional intelligence and client management capability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred (Bonus)
- Experience handling both contested and uncontested divorces
- Familiarity with mediation and settlement strategies
