About the Role
The Director of Sustainability (Stakeholder Engagement) will serve as the primary lead for stakeholder engagement and communications relating to a company's sustainability strategy, initiatives, and ESG commitments. The role will focus on building trust, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders impacted by the organisation's sustainability agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement Strategy
- Identify, assess, and prioritise key internal and external stakeholders relevant to the organisation's sustainability objectives.
- Develop and implement structured stakeholder engagement plans to support sustainability initiatives and ESG goals.
- Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for NGOs, industry associations, community organisations, government agencies, investors, and other stakeholders on sustainability-related matters.
- Build and maintain long-term partnerships that support the company's environmental, social, and governance objectives.
- Internal Sustainability Advocacy
- Work closely with management and employees to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of sustainability initiatives.
- Facilitate internal engagement and alignment towards the organisation's sustainability targets and commitments.
- Sustainability Communications
- Translate sustainability data, initiatives, and performance outcomes into clear, accurate, and transparent communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support ESG disclosures, sustainability reporting, and stakeholder communications while ensuring compliance with anti-greenwashing principles.
- Stakeholder Feedback & Materiality Assessment
- Gather, analyse, and communicate stakeholder feedback to management to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement processes required for sustainability reporting and ESG governance.
