Job Summary

As an Electronics R&D Engineer, you will lead the full lifecycle of technical projects by designing and implementing integrated hardware, software, and Edge AI solutions. You will collaborate across teams in Singapore and Shanghai and manage vendor partnerships to deliver innovative, client-focused systems.

Responsibilities

• Design system architectures integrating electronic hardware, embedded software, and AI applications tailored to client requirements

• Lead prototyping and development of embedded systems and robotics interfaces to ensure seamless AI module integration

• Develop detailed technical documentation including specifications, system schematics, and implementation roadmaps

• Plan, execute, and monitor project milestones to deliver solutions on time and within budget

Required competencies and certifications

• Professional fluency in English and Mandarin to facilitate effective communication with stakeholders in Singapore and China

• Proven experience in embedded systems development, Strong understanding of the interplay between hardware circuitry, firmware, and high-level software/AI frameworks.

Job Description

Role Responsibilities: 

• Design, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on a wide range of complex process engineering experiments for multiple products

• Utilize techniques, define methods, and apply new technologies to characterize hardware, and/or perform hardware characterization on a high number of complex systems for multiple products

• Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations, technical reports and create process engineering specifications

• Develop, plan, and execute process engineering projects, within safety guidelines

• Train engineers in measurement techniques of film properties and guide them in the interpretation of the data, new methodologies, troubleshooting techniques and issue resolution

• Communicate and engage with customers to resolve a broad spectrum of complex process engineering issues, with limited supervision

• Lead and/or develop and execute complex projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithms, and software design; attend design reviews and provide input to meet market requirement specifications (MRS) and hardware/software specifications.  

• Coordinate with project marketing and management to understand system requirements

• Lead architecture brainstorming meetings and drive the systems process to down select to a final architecture of a top-level system

Join this team focused on RF Front End Modules for the Cellular and Wireless Data markets.  You will be part of the Business Unit Engineering organization and work directly with and support multiple product development teams.  

Position requires a senior technical specialist who can provide leadership in the development of new and sustainable technology platforms for the company using a solid background in materials, device physics, front end or back end processes, and supplier interactions.

Responsibilities:

• Exhibit skill and confidence in working cross-functionally across a matrix organization in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment.

• Support development of advanced technologies for Si / GaAs backend interconnect, passivation, RDL, bump and flip chip packaging (CPI).

• Monitor and improve existing processes to improve yield, quality, and throughput, thereby increasing efficiency and product reliability. Support new pioneering singulation development.

• Utilize expertise in process integration between Fabrication (FAB) facilities and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) companies to anticipate and address potential integration challenges.

• In-depth knowledge of Backend-of-the-Line (BEOL) processes, with an additional benefit on experience in photolithography techniques.

• Conversant with substrate and assembly packaging processes for RF-SiP (Radio Frequency-System in Package) applications.

• Formulate industry-leading design guidelines which involves a comprehensive approach that incorporates lessons from past failures and acknowledges manufacturing constraints.

• Create, conduct, and analyze Design of Experiments (DOE) for development activities, especially those that relate to bump/die sort quality, yield and impact on CPI.

• Interface with foundries and OSATs for direct project management of critical programs.

• Understand process details, SPC, Control plans, OCAPs, FMEAs, PCN, CARs and Quality metrics. Conduct audits, benchmarking and drive best practice methodologies to proactively prevent quality excursions as the technology ramps.

• Resolve quality, yield and manufacturing problems with structed methods of problem solving.

• Lead all aspects technology integration into products, perform technical risk assessment, launch mitigation plans and ensure yield and reliability metrics are met and are in line with product release schedules. 

• Team cross-functionally with, Design, Device process development, Packaging, FEA and global NPI teams to support technology readiness for new products

• Ideate, Sketch and Participate in value engineering and cost reduction plans along with Qualcomm Packaging and Sourcing teams.

• Ensure product readiness for ramp. Protect product integrity post ramp.

Qualifications:   

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical / Materials / Chemical Engineering. PHD Preferred

• 10+ years of experience desired in electronics packaging in related environments, especially RF module industry

• At least 5 years direct experience in process engineering, product integration or quality management at tier 1 foundries, or assembly sub-contractors.

• Solid technical understanding of full range of Semiconductor packaging materials, material interactions, processes, dominant failure mechanisms and analytical techniques.

• Good knowledge of packaging industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI).

• Understanding of package/product qualification and reliability methods and failure analysis is required.

• Familiarity with PCB design and layout tools preferred.

• Understanding of statistics, control methodology, FMEA, analytical trouble shooting in a factory environment is required.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Willingness to travel internationally, typically once per quarter.

The Senior Analytical Science & Technology Manager is accountable for end-to-end analytical science and QC laboratory quality systems governance, ensuring robust analytical execution, compliant laboratory systems, and sustained inspection readiness in support of API manufacturing. 

This role integrates Analytical Sciences & Technology (AS&T) leadership with QC Quality Systems and Laboratory Systems ownership, providing a single point of accountability for analytical method lifecycle management, laboratory investigations, data integrity, and computerized laboratory systems. 

The incumbent ensures that analytical methods, laboratory processes, and core QC systems (e.g. LIMS/GLIMS, Empower, Lab X) are scientifically sound, compliant, effectively governed, and fit for routine operations, investigations, and regulatory submissions. Acting as both technical authority and QC systems owner, the role partners closely with Manufacturing, QA, Global Analytical functions, and Digital teams to deliver Right First Time (RFT) outcomes and operational excellence. 

Responsibilities

1. Analytical Sciences & Technology (AS&T) Leadership 

• Lead all Analytical Method Transfer Exercises (AMTE) for APIs transferring into, within, and out of the site. 
• Own the analytical method lifecycle, including development, validation, verification, compendial review impact assessments, and robustness improvements. 
• Ensure analytical approaches align with ICH guidance, PQS, and site SOPs. 
• Provide SME oversight for analytical troubleshooting, method failures, and complex laboratory investigations. 

2. QC Quality Systems & Laboratory Systems Ownership 

• Own and govern QC laboratory quality systems, including:  
• Deviations, investigations, and root cause analysis 
• CAPA definition and effectiveness 
• Data Integrity governance 
• SOP lifecycle management 
• Change management impacting analytical methods and laboratory systems 
•  Act as system owner / business process owner for core QC laboratory systems, including:  
• LIMS / GLIMS (sample management, result reporting, data integrity) 
• Empower Chromatography Data System (method control, data review, user access, audit trail oversight) 
• Ensure systems are:  
• Qualified and maintained in a validated state 
• Appropriately governed for user access, data integrity, and change control 
• Fit for business use and inspection ready 

3. Data Integrity & Compliance Governance 

• Establish and maintain strong Data Governance and Data Integrity controls across analytical and QC systems. 
• Ensure compliant use of LIMS/GLIMS, Empower, and associated analytical platforms in line with:  
• cGMP, ALCOA+ principles 
• PQS and site procedures 
• Regulatory expectations (e.g. FDA, EMA) 
• Serve as the QC Systems escalation point for audits and inspections involving laboratory systems, data integrity, and analytical practices. 

4. Investigation & Manufacturing Support 

• Provide expert analytical and systems input into:  
• Manufacturing deviations 
• Laboratory OOS/OOT events 
• System related data integrity issues 
• Customer complaints requiring analytical assessment 
• Ensure investigations are scientifically robust, risk based, and inspection defensible. 

5. Operational & Manufacturing Interface 

• Support routine API manufacturing by providing real-time analytical expertise to Value Stream Teams (VSTs). 
• Ensure analytical and system readiness for:  
• Cleaning validation 
• Stability programs 
• New product introductions 
• Partner with QA, Manufacturing, Validation, and Digital teams to align analytical execution, systems capability, and regulatory submissions. 

6. Project, Resource & Financial Management 

• Develop and manage integrated project plans covering:  
• Analytical method transfers 
• Validation programs 
• QC systems improvements and digital initiatives 
• Balance project and routine operational demand through capacity planning and prioritization. 
• Co-own QC laboratory operating budget and analytical systems capital planning (e.g. Empower upgrades, LIMS enhancements). 

7. Continuous Improvement & System Enablement 

• Drive Right First Time (RFT) behaviors across analytical execution and QC systems. 
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives leveraging:  
• Lean, Six Sigma 
• SPC and trending tools 
• System harmonization and standardization 
• Promote effective use of laboratory systems to improve efficiency, compliance, and data reliability. 

8. People Leadership & Capability Building 

• Lead, coach, and develop AS&T and QC Systems teams to build sustainable analytical and systems capability. 
• Fulfil First Line Leader (FLL) responsibilities, including:  
• Coaching and performance management

Supervision

• The incumbent is responsible for 2-5 direct reports and 3-8 indirect reports.

Education

• Min. Bachelor or Master or Ph.D. Degree in Science (Chemistry preferred), Pharmaceutical Sciences or related Life Sciences.

Experiences

• Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or QC, AS&T, or R&D laboratory environments within regulated industries.
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership/supervisory position of professional staff previously or demonstrated capability to successfully lead large teams.
• Governance experience with LIMS/GLIMS, Empower, and analytical data systems.
• Experience in an API manufacturing plant is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of GMP compliance requirements for Quality Control Laboratories is a must.
• Successful track record of continuous improvement, development and/or implementation of best practices in Quality Control Laboratories.
