About this role

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading and executing sourcing and procurement activities for complex process automation projects, combining engineering knowledge with commercial expertise. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of technically compliant materials, equipment, and services, aligned with project specifications and quality standards. The Procurement Engineer will work closely with Project Execution, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to support large-scale project execution, mitigate technical risks, and ensure optimal supplier selection. The main tasks and responsibilities are:

Technical Sourcing &Procurement

• Lead end-to-end sourcing and purchasing activities for engineering projects involving instrumentation, control systems, and mechanical/electrical components.
• Interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to ensure accurate sourcing decisions.
• Evaluate suppliers from both technical and commercial perspectives, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Supplier Evaluation &Engineering Alignment

• Conduct technical assessments of suppliers to ensure capability to meet engineering specifications and project standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Project teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve specification gaps.
• Participate in technical discussions, clarifications, and bid evaluations for major procurement packages.

1. Procurement Operations

• Develop and implement procurement and materials strategies that are cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with internal policies and project objectives.

Procurement Engineer (Fabrications)

- Manage component sourcing on Mechanical Sheet Metal commodities

- Overall ownership to drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives through negotiations, alternate sourcing, localizations, VAVE, supplier consolidations

- Establish wide supplier network to facilitate both Sourcing and Procurement activities, leading strategic relationship with critical suppliers

Duty and Responsibility:

1. Procurement engineers oversee the purchase of technical equipment for industrial operations.

2. They collaborate with designers/Site to determine the equipment needed to complete manufacturing or construction projects according to specifications, research vendors for that equipment, then order it.

3. These engineers negotiate purchase agreements with vendors and award contracts to vendors for equipment.

Job Purpose:

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost‑effective procurement of goods and services required by, including software, technical hardware, mechanical components, and assemblies that support UVJC’s R&D programs. This role strengthens the resilience of our supply chain by developing qualified suppliers and partners, managing sourcing strategies, and ensuring supplier risk management, readiness and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing & RFQ Management

• Support the RFQ and sourcing process for custom parts/services by working with Engineering and cross‑functional teams to translate purchase requisitions into RFQs, evaluate supplier quotes, and issue purchase orders.

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers based on technical requirements, quality standards, cost competitiveness, and capacity.
