Site Engineer

Job Description

This position is mainly responsible for on-site construction supervision, engineering coordination, progress monitoring, quality verification, and testing/inspection support for semiconductor facility engineering projects.

The scope of work includes civil construction stages, M&E installation, instrumentation and control wiring, signal cable installation, control panel installation, PLC / SCADA / GMS system testing, and project handover activities.

The role is primarily responsible for ensuring contractors’ works comply with drawings, specifications, project schedules, and project requirements, while supporting the engineering team in site management and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise on-site construction activities, monitor work progress, and ensure quality compliance.
2. Coordinate work arrangements among clients, main contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel.
3. Ensure site works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
4. Conduct daily site inspections to monitor manpower attendance, construction progress, material deliveries, and site conditions.
5. Assist in site measurements, inspections, testing, defect tracking, and project completion verification.
6. Prepare daily site reports, photo records, and progress updates in accordance with company and client requirements.
7. Perform any other site supervision, coordination, and follow-up duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

1. Candidates with experience in site management, construction supervision, engineering coordination, or project execution are preferred.
2. Basic knowledge of M&E systems, instrumentation and control, ELV systems, communication systems, PLC / SCADA, GMS, or facility systems is an advantage.
3. Ability to understand basic construction drawings, single-line diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and I/O Lists is preferred.
4. Able to supervise contractors in site installation, cable pulling, cable checking, testing, system commissioning, and defect rectification works.
5. Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, and site teams.
6. Positive working attitude, responsible, and proactive in tracking site issues, project progress, and defect rectification status.
7. Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, photo documentation, and site reporting preparation is preferred.
8. Candidates with experience in Singapore construction sites, semiconductor plants, cleanroom environments, facility systems, or M&E / instrumentation projects will have an added advantage.

Certifications & Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with any of the following certifications, training, or relevant experience will have an advantage:

1. Electrical licenses or certifications related to electrical engineering, instrumentation, ELV systems, or communication cabling.
2. Singapore Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW), or relevant Electrical Technician / Electrical Engineer qualifications.
3. Experience with GMS, Gas Detector systems, 4–20mA signals, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC, or SCADA systems is highly preferred.

Nature of Work

·       Demonstrate strong expertise in RHEL system administration, including installation, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle management of Linux servers to ensure security, performance, andhigh availability.

·       Design, implement, and manage Linux clustering solutions, including Pacemaker clusters and IBM GPFS (Spectrum Scale) for high availability, scalability, and performance in on‑premises environments.

·       Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux infrastructure, covering compute, storage (including GPFS),networking, and security components.

·       Leverage operational experience to design and implement infrastructure improvements that enhance system security, stability, performance, and operational efficiency.

·       Plan and execute scheduled preventive maintenance, including OS patching, upgrades, cluster maintenance, and system hardening activities.

·       Perform system and performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning across standalone and clustered Linux environments.

·       Fulfil service requests and change requests in line with established ITSM and change management processes.

·       Manage and support VMware virtualized environments hosting Linux workloads.

·       Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external vendors to support operational activities and project deliverables.

·       Provide day‑to‑day Linux system administration and operations support, including participation in 24x7 standby/on‑call rotation.

·       Provide technical input, design reviews, and advisory support for infrastructure and application projects.

Required Experience & Skills

·       5+ years of relevant working experience as a Unix administrator in on premise setup.

·       Strong technical knowledge and experience in administration and maintenance of Linux.

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

·       Strong background in Unix technologies including High Availability and virtualization.

·       Storage admin/SAN technology from system perspective.

·       Familiarity with ITSM, ITIL, or other relevant frameworks is a plus.

·       Proven ability to identify and improve performance measurement and reporting processes in a large organization.

·       Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams with a delivery focus in both project and operational environments

·       Excellent spoken and written Business English skills and the ability to write clear and concise text for different audiences.
