Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Chemistry for testing, sample preparation and delivery/collection of samples and preparation of test reports.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of water-physical, chemical and microbiological parameters
  
• Analysis of ores and minerals
  
• Analysis of water, soil, aggregates, concrete and scale samples
  
• Operation of equipment like pH / EC / TDS meters, UV-visible spectrophotometers, ovens, furnaces, incubators, fusion machines
  
• Prepare the reagents, standard solution and ensure standardisation of the solution used in the laboratory
  
• Handling and storage all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  
• Managing the calibration of glass wares and the instruments
  
• Performance of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests and analysis of other substances as per standard method
  
• Issue reports and receive samples to and from the respective entities
  
• Involvement in site and field testing with various international standards or in-house procedures
  
• Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements
  
• Coordinating with the other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule
  
• Manual handling of samples
  
• General maintenance, cleaning and checking of equipment
  
• Working to all HSE standards
  
• Interaction with clients during witnessed testing
  
• Generating test reports for clients (data entry, quality assurance)
  
• Ensuring compliance to all Element Material Technology quality standards
  
• Driving to customer site to collect samples and / or conduct testing at their lab on a regular / daily basis
  
• Willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution of Element Material Technology annual targets and budget
  

Skills / Qualifications

• Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar role
  
• Have the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary
  
• Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
  
• Good maths skills
  
• Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory

We are hiring a Chemist with strong analytical chemistry capability to run QA/QC testing, maintain ISO/IEC 17025-aligned practices, lead documentation and training, and support new product SOP / production readiness. You will supervise technicians and provide weekly reporting to management. Training will be provided for equipment and AI tools.

Key Responsibilities

• QA/QC & Analytical Testing (ISO/IEC 17025 aligned): Execute tests per approved methods/specs; ensure data integrity, traceability, controlled records, calculations, result review, and basic OOS/OOT support.
• Equipment Operation (hands-on): Operate, maintain readiness, and perform basic troubleshooting with proper logs/status control for:
• Auto Titrator
• Karl Fischer Titrator
• FTIR
• UV/Vis Spectrophotometer
• Water analysis meters: pH / conductivity / ORP / DO (where applicable)
• Water analyzers: COD / turbidity / TOC (where applicable)
• Documentation & SOP Control: Draft/revise/improve SOPs, work instructions, forms, and checklists; implement document control and “right-first-time” records.
• Training & Competency: Train technicians (OJT + assessment), maintain training records, and close skill gaps.
• Technician Supervision: Guide lab techs on technique, safety, housekeeping, GDP/data integrity; allocate daily workload and ensure consistent execution.
• New Product Support: Create new SOP / production SOP for new products (raw material checks, blending/production steps, in-process controls, final QC release, labeling/packaging, storage conditions).
• CAPA / Complaints / RCA (advantage): Support or lead CAPA, fishbone/5-Why, complaint investigations, effectiveness checks, and closure.
• Method Support (advantage): Support method verification/validation and documentation (accuracy, precision, linearity/range, robustness, etc. as applicable).
• AI Productivity: Use AI tools to speed up drafting, reporting, checklists, and admin tasks with confidentiality controls and human review.
• Weekly Reporting: Provide weekly report on QC output, production support, instrument status, issues/risks, CAPA/complaint status and actions.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry (or related science).
• Strong analytical chemistry fundamentals and hands-on QA/QC experience.
• Proven ability to operate and care for the instruments listed above; strong calibration/verification discipline.
• Strong SOP writing, documentation control, and training capability.
• Able to supervise technicians and maintain competency records.

Nice to Have (Add-on)

• Experience in ISO/IEC 17025, CAPA, fishbone analysis, complaint handling, OOS/OOT investigations.
• Experience supporting method verification/validation.
• Experience in chemical blending/production environment and batch record flow.

What a formulation and analytical Chemist does at HP:

• Apply analytical and materials characterization techniques to understand ink and raw material behavior, including functional components and material interactions, to meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.

•Contribute to the development, optimization, and sustainment of ink formulations through strong analytical insight, with opportunities to take on increased formulation ownership over time.

•Lead analytical analysis investigations into ink-related development and manufacturing issues, connecting formulation chemistry, material behavior, and process conditions to identify root causes and corrective actions.

•Partner closely with ink manufacturing, R&D, and laboratory teams to support process development, scale-up readiness, qualification activities, and technology introduction.

•Serve as a technical subject matter contributor in formulation chemistry and/or materials characterization, influencing formulation strategies and technical direction.

•Strengthen and sustain analytical chemistry technical capability, including methods, best practices, and knowledge sharing across formulation and characterization activities.

•Represent the formulation and materials characterization function in cross-functional projects, with opportunities to act as a technical or project lead for complex initiatives.

•Communicate technical findings clearly and effectively, through written reports and discussions, to support timely, data-driven decision making.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

• Bachelor's, Master's or PHD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field.

• Typically, 5+ years of experience in analytical chemistry or material characterization, ideally applied to complex chemical or materials systems in ink or materials development in a related industrial environment.

• Strong foundation in chemical formulation principles, or the ability to apply analytical insight to formulation-driven systems, with strong experimental design, and data interpretation.

• Experience applying analytical, experimental, or characterization methods to understand chemical or materials systems in R&D or manufacturing contexts.

• Ability to apply techniques in Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Elemental Analysis, Thermal measurement, or Particle Size & Physical measurement tools.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of technical problems, and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

• Proven records in leading formulation studies, technical investigations, or project workstreams is strongly preferred.
