Strategy Director

The aim of this role is to lead the development of insight-driven communications strategies that help clients influence knowledge, attitudes and behaviours across diverse audiences in theAsia-Pacific region. The Strategy Director will combine research, critical thinking and interdisciplinary insight to solve complex client challenges, drive strategic excellence within the agency, and strengthen the agency’s reputation as a leader in behaviour change and strategic communications.

Job Description

• To provide strategic leadership within the agency in developing communications solutions to change knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in target audience groups across the Asia-Pacific region.
• To use and champion multiple sources of research, best practices and critical thinking to assist multiple client organisations in the pursuit of achieving their objectives.
• To set an example within the agency as to the value or strategy in answering client problems by developing effective ways of working, tools and techniques and sharing them with the organisation.
• To bring new forms of thinking and insight from adjacent disciplines for example psychology or neuroscience or anthropology or behavioural science and apply them to the day-to-day activities of the agency.
• To build (where appropriate) the profile of the agency externally by, for example, presenting at conferences, building a network of contacts or publishing material.
• To draw on multiple information sources and distil complex problems into simple communications strategies.

Experience & Qualifications

·       10+ years’ experience of creating and ‘bringing to life’ effective communications strategies for a range of problems.

·       Knowledge of fundamental techniques, tools and practices of a brand and communications strategist.

·       Ability to bring new working practices, tools and/or techniques and embed them into the day-to-day operations of the business.

·       Ability to quickly analyse and process large volumes of data and insights from multiple sources. 

·       Ability to craft and present simple solutions to highly complex problems (as oral or written presentations).

·       Ability to work with creative staff/partners to ensure the strategy comes to life in the real world.

·       An ability to understand the culture of/develop strategies for diverse countries, cultures and communities.

·       Excellent oral and written communications skills (English).

Desirable:

The Work:

They report to the Beca Project Director and are ultimately responsible for maintaining comprehensive supervision of the Contractors’ technical work, identifying any technical deviations and their resolutions, and tracking progress against the Contractors’ schedule. They will be full time on site working a 5 ½ day week.  They will meet regularly with the Client’s Project Management team to report on work status and help manage technical construction delivery challenges. Together with an Administration staff member and Senior Resident Engineers they will oversee site administrative matters and site staff duties including record keeping, organising overtime and leaving applications to suit the project’s resourcing needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MEP Construction Director to be ready to step into a broader role that combines technical excellence, project leadership and client engagement. This position will be based on our project site office and reporting to Job Director.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible to:

·       Lead and manage thedelivery of MEP consultancy services for major and complex projects.

·       Provide technical leadership, review, and oversight to ensure engineering quality, compliance, and coordination across all MEP disciplines.

·       Guide multi disciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality objectives.

·       Monitor projectprogress, identify technical risks and issues, and drive timely resolution incollaboration with clients, contractors, and project teams.

·       Support the development and implementation of project delivery plans, technical review processes, and quality assurance procedures.

·       Contribute to constructability, safety, operational, and maintainability reviews during design development and delivery.

·       Provide technical input during procurement activities, including consultant/contractor engagement, tender review, and contract administration support.

·       Advise on technical and commercial matters, helping to manage project risks and minimise potential disputes or claims.

·       Maintain effective coordination between design teams, client representatives, site teams, and other project stakeholders.

·       Support construction phase services as required, including review of contractor submissions, responses to technical queries, and site-based coordination.

·       Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive service, trusted technical advice, and a clear understanding of client needs.

·       Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams on project status, risks, timelines, and key decisions.

·       Mentor and support team members, promoting technical excellence, collaboration, and professional development.

Key Requirements

·       Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or a related engineering discipline.

·       Professional registration, chartership or membership of a relevant professional institution preferred.

·       Significant experience in MEP engineering, design management, or project delivery within a consultancy environment.

·       Demonstrated expertise in applying engineering principles and industry best practice across complex building or infrastructure projects.

·       Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating stakeholders across project phases.

·       Strong commercial, contractual, and risk management awareness.

Job Description:

・Formulate sales policies, proposals and business plans for the company. The position is expected to formulate specific short-, medium- and long-term sales strategies for the company based on its group sales policy and drive the sales growth and business performance to achieve group targets.

・Coordinate and work closely with key clients to formulate business strategies and action plans for future projects. This role will also take a lead role in project-based commercial strategies, such as the coordination of joint venture partnerships, alliances, etc.

・Identify key issues in sales strategy of the company and entire JGC group in APAC countries and formulate policies to address them. Regularly report, propose and discuss with the senior management of the company and Japan headquarters sales department to achieve sales targets.

・Work closely with management of relevant divisions/departments of the company and the sales division of Japan HQ. Formulate sales strategies and take an initiative to promote it. Interpret market segment information and secure new business opportunities and projects (in areas of energy, chemicals, life sciences, industrial and urban infrastructure, etc.) in APAC countries to achieve the JGC group targets.

・Lead complex proposals/negotiations with customers, including projects need to be undertaken by forming joint venture with other company(ies). This position is particularly required to handle large-size projects with several stakeholders (both outside and inside the company) and manage our top-tier customers who expect close commitment and extensive knowledge in the business side of the projects.

・Take the operational lead of development of sales strategy of the JGC Group, particularly in terms of building, maintaining and improving the customer relationship.

・Implement measures to explore new business opportunities (new customers and new business domain) and build and maintain trusting relationship with new customers, based on the sales strategy.

・Communicate with various stakeholders, including shareholders, partners, relevant government agencies and customers (including existing and new customers) in Japan and across the APAC to build and maintain trusting relationships.

・Identify issues and needs of customers in Singapore and neighboring countries covered by the JGC Group, lead the preparation of proposals in cooperation with related departments to formulate solutions, communicate with customers and negotiate contract matters.

・Share sales information and propose execution policies to relevant departments in the company

・Work together with internal teams to develop proposal including technical idea and solutions to achieve sales targets by ensuring the best possible services and effective communications to all regional customers.

Requirements:

・At least 12 years' experience in sales department in the Oil & Gas and/or industrial and urban infrastructure related industries, including more than 3 projects with a value of USD 100million or more.

・Experience as Department Manager or equivalent position of a listed company or a group company of a listed company with more than 1,000 employees.

・Possesses in-depth practical knowledge and understanding of contractual practices and contracts in EPC projects

・At least 5 years of experience with EPC project (including estimation work) in the APAC region in Oil & Gas and/or industrial and urban infrastructure related industry

・Experience in leading a project to establish new JV entity and its project office.
