Get to know the role

As a Senior Perception Engineer, you will help build and ship the perception stack that turns raw sensor data into reliable, real-time understanding of the world. In our team, all engineers are expected to be hands-on across the perception stack, contributing to shipping milestones through evaluation, debugging, integration, and iterative improvements to perception algorithms and runtime behavior.

To accelerate early progress, you will take initial ownership of perception foundations: sensor integrity, calibration, and the tooling and validation workflows that ensure our perception inputs are geometrically and temporally correct. This work is a direct lever on perception quality and iteration speed. As these foundations stabilize, you will broaden into wider perception development, taking on larger slices of perception delivery over time.

The critical tasks you will perform

• You will ship and improve perception capabilities across detection, tracking, and multi sensor integration, using disciplined evaluation and failure analysis to iteratively raise quality and robustness.
• You will take initial ownership of perception foundations, including sensor integrity and calibration for our multi sensor suite (camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU). You will build practical diagnostics and automated checks to catch geometric or timing issues early and prevent them from being misdiagnosed as perception regressions.
• You will partner with Integration and Data and Infra teams to ensure perception is reliable in production-like conditions, including logging and replay workflows, as well as performance and latency investigations.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to support customers and internal teams through software support, secondary modifications, and basic development, covering instrumentation, control systems, and process automation.

This role suits someone with hands-on experience in equipment software, who enjoys working close to hardware, testers, and automation systems, without being a full system architect.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

As an Embodied AI Engineer, you will develop next‑generation robotic intelligence that tightly integrates AI‑driven perception, planning, and behaviour with real‑world robot embodiment. You will contribute to both research-driven and deployment-driven development across ROS 2, advanced simulation environments, and industrial robotic platforms.You will support applied R&D to develop, implement, and test robot learning algorithms that integrate motion planning, force/torque sensing, and multimodal perception. The role includes hands-on work in designing experiments, analysing results, building prototypes, and contributing to practical robotics solutions for advanced manufacturing. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (researchers, engineers, and industry partners) to bridge research with impactful industrial deployments in areas such as remanufacturing, automation, and smart manufacturing.

Roles & Responsibilities​:

• Support applied R&D in robotic manipulation, focusing on robotics technologies for advanced manufacturing.​
• Assist in designing and conducting experiments to collect, process, and analyse experiment data.​
• Apply machine learning and deep learning techniques to improve robot control, adaptability, and decision-making in real-world scenarios.​
• Contribute to developing and testing functional prototypes and ROS-based robotics solutions for manufacturing applications.​

Job Requirements​:

• Bachelor or Master degree (fresh/recent graduates welcome) in Robotics, Computer Science,Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.​
• At least 2 years of experience
• Strong foundational knowledge in robotics fundamentals, including kinematics, dynamics, motion planning, and control.​
• Interest or exposure to robot learning, Learning from Demonstration, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or Embodied AI concepts.​
• Proficiency in programming, especially Python and/or C++ ​
• Hands-on experience or strong interest in ROS/ROS2, simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim), and robotic hardware platforms.​
• Basic familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is advantageous.​
• Understanding of sensors (vision, force/torque) and perception techniques is a plus.​
• Experience or interest in industrial automation, manufacturing environments, or contact-rich manipulation is highly desirable.​
• Good communication skills for teamwork, documentation, and presenting ideas/findings.​

Get to know the Role:

As the core architect of "Spatial Intelligence" for our last-mile delivery robots, you will lead the R&D of high-precision, robust, and cost-effective SLAM technologies. Your work will directly determine the robot's ability to navigate autonomously and safely through complex, dynamic urban environments (e.g., residential areas, commercial streets, office parks), driving the system from prototype to large-scale commercial deployment.

The critical tasks you will perform

1. Core Algorithm R&D & Optimization (50%)

• Multi-modal Fusion: Lead the development of SLAM algorithms for large-scale, semi-structured environments, focusing on tightly-coupled localization and mapping architectures using LiDAR, Vision, Odometry, and IMU.
• Scenario Robustness: Overcome unique last-mile challenges: filtering dense dynamic obstacles, resolving localization ambiguity in repetitive scenes, ensuring seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, and maintaining stable centimeter-level localization in GNSS-denied areas (e.g., urban canyons, tunnels).
• Cost-Efficient Solutions: Build SLAM solutions optimized for low-cost hardware (e.g., solid-state LiDAR, cameras) and ensure long-term map stability.

2. Engineering Excellence & Deployment (30%)

• Performance Balancing: Lead the deployment and optimization of SLAM algorithms on edge platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson Orin, Horizon J5), achieving an extreme balance between precision and high-frequency real-time output.
• Production Implementation: Refactor code architecture for production; manage memory, power consumption, and coordinate with hardware teams on sensor selection, calibration, and temporal synchronisation.
• Mapping Toolchain: Design and implement automated toolchains for map generation, updates, and cloud management to support rapid operational expansion.

3. Closed-loop Iteration & Collaboration (20%)

• Evaluation & Truth Systems: Build performance evaluation frameworks (using metrics like ATE and Loop Closure success rates) to drive continuous algorithm evolution via data loops.
• System Synergy: Collaborate with Perception and Planning/Control teams to provide high-quality, low-latency pose estimation and semantic map data, enhancing overall motion intelligence.
