About the role

• Knowledge in building and version control with Git, Gradle, Apache Ant
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud-native services (e.g. EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS, RDS, Kubernates, API Gateway.)

Software Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow our software and firmware team while remaining actively involved in technical design, development and problem-solving. This is a player-coach role suited for a strong engineering leader who can mentor a team, drive execution, and roll up their sleeves to contribute directly to coding, architecture and debugging when needed.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership with deep technical expertise across embedded firmware and software development and thrives in a fast-paced product development environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of software and firmware engineers, providing both technical and people leadership.
• Remain hands-on in architecture, coding, design reviews, debugging and solving complex technical challenges.
• Contribute directly to firmware and software development for new and existing products when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software/firmware development, including leadership experience.
• Strong hands-on programming experience in C/C++ and embedded systems development.
• Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, device drivers, debugging and system-level development.
• Proven ability to lead teams while remaining technically engaged in development work.
• Strong experience in architecture, code reviews and solving complex technical problems.
• Experience in electronics, networking, IoT or embedded product development preferred.

Primary Purpose

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible to develops software based on design requirements and ensure software and subroutines are working to specification, program codes have conformed to standards and are delivered with quality meeting schedule and requirements.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery

• Analyse process/program specifications & translate specifications to program codes, conforming to program guidelines and programming best practices

• Make changes to configurable items, which include hardware, software, documentation, etc. It covers configuration management planning, configuration identification, configuration controls & audits

• Develop unit test package, execute tests & document test results to ensure the quality of the program

• Assist in the integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Test ( UAT) & implementation activities to fix the reported problems/bugs of the system to ensure the smooth execution of programs in the production environment

• Investigate all reported problems/errors & initiate amendments & testing so that the system can operate correctly &efficiently

• Prepare & maintain up-to-date system documentation.

• Analyse functional requirements to translate into application design using established design methodologies and guidelines

• Ensure codes comply with NCS security guidelines

Team Work

• Work with team lead to ensure design and programme codes conform to architecture and design standards, and that design satisfies functional and system requirements

• Participate in requirements gathering; work with Business Analysts in reviewing and refining functional specifications

• Participate in peer reviews to improve project quality

Requirements

·      Typically 5-7  years’ experience with substantial project work in software development

·      Experience in Peoplesoft Financial.

·      Diploma or Degree in Computer Science,Information Technology, Management of Information Systems or equivalent

·      Possess initiative and disposition with a strong commitment and orientation towards results and high quality standards

·      Strong problem solving skills and ability to think out of the box

·      Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
