Job Summary
You will assist dentists during procedures, prepare instruments and equipment, manage patient care instructions, and maintain clinic hygiene to ensure smooth dental operations and positive patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatments
- Provide patients with care instructions prescribed by dentists, including post-operative and oral hygiene guidance
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing and handing over appropriate instruments to facilitate patient care
- Prepare and set up dental procedure rooms ensuring all instruments, trays, materials, and equipment are ready before patient arrival
- Assist in taking and developing dental diagnostic x-rays to support accurate diagnosis
- Perform lab tracking, casting, impression taking, and retainer fabrication tasks as required
- Check, pouch, and sterilize instruments and instrument sets following proper protocols
- Disinfect and maintain dental chairs, equipment, working surfaces, and instruments to meet hygiene standards
- Monitor clinic room materials to ensure sufficient sterile instruments and supplies are available for daily use
- Handle and manage patient feedback professionally to support patient satisfaction
- Report incidents such as equipment malfunction, defects, or loss promptly to management
- Conduct stock takes and notify in-charge when inventory is low, ensuring proper inventory management and storage using the first in, first out (FIFO) principle
- Perform other duties assigned by Clinic In-Charge or Manager
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proven experience as a dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Good computer skills to support clinic operations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills to enhance patient experience
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to clinic needs
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good command of English for clear communication
- Educational qualifications: GCE ‘N’/’O’ Levels, Higher/NITEC
- Preferred background as junior executives specialized in Healthcare - Nurse/Medical Support & Assistant or equivalent
- Relevant skills: dental assisting, nursing, customer service, hospitality, administration, healthcare, retail
