Responsibilities

·      Provide on-site technical support to front-end semiconductor OEM and fabrication customers for fluid system, gas delivery, and process application challenges.

·      Diagnose and resolve complex tool, system, process, and fluid delivery issues impacting customer uptime, yield, reliability, and operational performance.

·      Conduct root cause investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions to resolve customer concerns.

·      Support tool installation, startup, qualification, and troubleshooting activities within customer facilities.

·      Evaluate customer fluid systems and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

·      Provide technical expertise and best-practice recommendations for high-purity fluid systems and gas delivery systems.

·      Lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams and establish credibility through deep application and process knowledge.

·      Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with key stakeholders within front-end semiconductor OEM and fabrication customers.

·      Work closely with Sales to identify, develop, and promote application solutions, products, and engineering services opportunities.

·      Conduct customer site assessments and technical evaluations to identify opportunities for process improvements and solutions deployment.

·      Design and develop application solutions proposals in collaboration with Sales, Engineering Services, and Commercial Proposal teams.

·      Support technical clarification meetings, solutions presentations, and customer workshops as required.

·      Collaborate with global Engineering Services teams, Product Engineering, Product Management, and Strategic Account teams to resolve customer challenges and support business growth initiatives.

·      Provide customer insights, application feedback, and market intelligence to support product development and strategic account planning.

·      Support internal associates' technical knowledge development through product, application, and semiconductor process training.

·      Support the development and execution of commercialization plans and strategic initiatives to grow semiconductor products, application solutions, and engineering services business.

·      Leverage internal technical resources and subject matter experts to deliver differentiated customer solutions and experiences.

·      Extend technical support to strategic regional customers and distributor partners as required

·      Other duties and assignments as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

·      Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

·      Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in front-end semiconductor OEMs, semiconductor fabrication facilities, application engineering, process engineering, tool engineering, field engineering, or technical customer support roles.

·      Hands-on experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including installation, startup, qualification, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities.

·      Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes such as Deposition, Etching, Photolithography, Implantation, and/or related wafer fabrication technologies.

·      Experience with high-purity fluid systems, gas delivery systems, and associated semiconductor process applications.

·      Knowledge of semiconductor tool architecture, subsystem interactions, and fab/sub-fab operations.

·      Familiarity with common failure modes including leaks, particle generation, flow performance issues, contamination risks, and system response challenges.

• Develop and maintain backend services and middleware for real-time OT/IoT data ingestion using industrial communication standards.

• Build data pipeline components to normalize, process, and route high-frequency telemetry from field devices to platform services and 3D visualization layers.

• Integrate generative AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) into daily development workflows for efficient code generation, unit testing, and validation.

• Write and maintain automated test suites covering custom protocol adapters, data transformation logic, and API integration endpoints.

• Collaborate closely with frontend Unity engineers and system architects to design and implement robust REST and WebSocket API contracts.

• Troubleshoot field connectivity issues and partner with hardware teams on device commissioning, protocol debugging, and system cutovers.

skills and experience required.

• 2–5 years of professional experience in backend or systems software engineering, with practical exposure to OT/IoT environments.

• Hands-on engineering experience with OPC-UA, MODBUS, and MQTT protocols (active implementation and protocol adapters, not just conceptual knowledge).

• Proficiency in at least one modern backend development language (Python, Node.js, Go, or Java).

• Active experience leveraging AI coding tools for streamlined development, automated testing, or validation pipelines in current or previous projects.

• Strong technical familiarity with event-driven data architectures, message brokers (Kafka, MQTT brokers), or time-series data structures.

• Prior exposure to containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), digital twin stacks, or industrial network security protocols is highly preferred.

• Possess a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical technical experience.

As a Senior Engineer, Electrical Engineering at ASM, you will act as a technical lead for electrical systems within advanced semiconductor equipment. You will drive system-level design decisions, ensuring robust architecture, seamless integration, and high-performance delivery. By combining deep technical expertise with strong ownership, you will guide the development of complex systems from concept through production while influencing cross-functional engineering outcomes.

What you will be working on

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems and sub-assemblies, setting technical direction and ensuring alignment with product architecture
• Lead fabrication and test of electrical test structures (ex. MOS capacitors, MIM capacitors, FETs) for semiconductor logic and memory applications
• Own system-level integration, ensuring electrical, mechanical, and control elements work cohesively to meet performance, safety, and reliability targets
• Define and validate digital and analog I/O architectures, enabling flexible, customer-specific configurations
• Drive technical decision-making across new product development, capital projects, and system improvements

What we are looking for

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in system engineering within semiconductor equipment manufacturing
• Strong expertise in electrical hardware design, system architecture, and integration (e.g., reactors, plasma sources, or similar systems)
• Proven ability to lead technical problem-solving and make system-level design decisions
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and data analysis tools such as JMP
• Hands-on experience in hardware testing, instrumentation, and system validation
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global engineering environment
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to influence technical discussions

• Minimum 8 years of experience in semiconductor equipment design, development, and automation.
• Expertise in complex mechanical systems such as reactors, vacuum chambers, gas delivery systems, pneumatics, and cooling circuits.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to lead innovative design concepts.
• Experience with PLC programming and revision control tools such as Git.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

What sets you apart

• Experience with semiconductor capital equipment and metal deposition products.
• Knowledge of CE, NFPA, Semi S2-95, and other relevant standards for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with materials including metals, plastics, coatings, and finishes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, CREO, and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO 1101:2017 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Strong communication skills to present design concepts effectively to peers and management.
