Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Associate Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. This role is based in Tuas Loop, Singapore.

Responsibilities

- Closely involved – as a contributing team member – with a variety of assignments with the laboratory

- Accountable for technical activities of a limited scope and may attain additional responsibilities for release of standard and/or routine data to clients

- Conduct Routine Tests such as stripping test, moisture content, rebar’s geometrical measurements

- Work with Engineer and lead with advanced tests, including tensile test and ad-hoc experiments.

- Accurately record and report data from tests.

- Possess the ability to effectively contribute to technical presentations and communications within the engineering discipline

Job Responsibilities:

1. Automation System Design & Implementation

· Design, develop and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality and cost efficiency.

· Integrate automation systems with injection moulding machines, assembly machines, conveyors, vision systems and testing equipment.

2. Injection Moulding & Assemble Automation Support (Added Advantage)

· Support automation integration for injection moulding machines, including robot take-out, insert loading, degating and post-moulding operations.

· Develop and optimize automation solutions for assembly machines such as part feeding, pick-and-place, screw fastening, press-fit and functional testing.

· Work closely with Process Engineers to improve cycle time, reduce manpower and minimize rejects.

3. Programming & Control Systems

· Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots (e.g. Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, Epson), and motion control systems,

· Develop and modify automation logic, sequences, interlocks and safety circuits.

· Ensure proper communication between machines using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus and etc).

4. Troubleshooting & Maintenance

· Diagnose and resolve automation system faults, breakdowns and performance issues with minimal downtime.

· Provide on-site technical support during production, mould trials and new product launches.

· Conduct preventive maintenance and improvement activities on automation equipment.

5. Machine & Process Improvement

· Analyze existing production processes and identify opportunities for automation, cycle time reduction and efficiency improvement.

· Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance machine reliability, OEE and process stability.

· Support poka-yoke (error-proofing) and vision inspection implementation.

6. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

· Ensure automation systems comply with machine safety standards and company EHS requirements.

· Prepare and maintain automation documentation such as electrical drawings, PLC programs, SOP and risk assessments.

· Support IQ, OQ and PQ activities related to automated equipment where applicable.

7. Cross functional Collaboration

· Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth automation deployment.

· Coordinate with machine suppliers, system integrators and vendors for installation, debugging and upgrades.

· Provide training to technicians and operators on automation system operation and basic troubleshooting.

8. Project Management & Support

· Manage timelines, technical deliverables and project documentation.

· Assist in cost estimation, RFQ evaluation and automation feasibility studies.

Job Requirements:

· Minimum 1 to 3 years of hands on experience in industrial automation within medical device and/or precision plastic manufacturing environments.

· Strong working experience with injection moulding machines. Including robot take-out, insert loading, degating and post moulding processes.

· Proven experience in automation of assembly machines, such as part feeding, pick and place, press fit, screw fastening, welding and functional testing.

· Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and root cause analysis skills with ability to support production independently.

· Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software.

Job Description:

• Contribute to Life Science projects for Antaes Asia clients
• Develop and execute CQV documentation including commissioning protocols, FAT/SAT reports, IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, summary reports, and traceability matrices.
• Support end-to-end CQV lifecycle for process, utility, and support systems — e.g. bioreactors, chromatography skids, filtration units, CIP/SIP, WFI, HVAC, autoclaves, and clean utilities.
• Participate in design reviews (URS, FDS, P&ID walkdowns) to ensure CQV considerations are integrated during project design and construction.
• Manage execution of commissioning and qualification activities in alignment with project schedules, safety standards, and GMP compliance.
• Support automation qualification (DeltaV, PLC, SCADA) and ensure integration with process control systems.
• Review vendor documentation and coordinate FAT and SAT with suppliers and engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during CQV execution.
• Ensure all CQV deliverables meet internal Quality and Validation standards, and align with site Validation Master Plan (VMP).
• Support handover of qualified systems to Manufacturing and Maintenance teams, including training and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, QA Validation, Manufacturing, and Automation.
• Contribute to the promotion of Antaes services on top of assistance provided to clients.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related Engineering field.
• 3–7 years of CQV experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of GMP, GEP, ISPE Baseline Guides, ASTM E2500, and FDA/EMA validation expectations.
• Experience in process equipment qualification (bioreactors, chromatography, UF/DF, CIP/SIP), clean utilities, and automation integration.
• Familiar with risk-based CQV approach and change control processes.
• Proficiency with documentation management systems (e.g., Veeva).
• Candidate must be highly motivated, be able to work independently as well as in a team and have good organizational and oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English - to coordinate and liase with English speaking counterparts.
