Assistant Engineer – Naval Systems Maintenance

Location: Changi Naval Base

Job Summary:

As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the operational readiness and maintenance of naval platforms. Working closely with fellow engineers, Service Delivery Managers, and Project Managers, you will support the upkeep of onboard systems through hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, refurbishment, and equipment installation across vessels, workshops, and shipyards. You will have opportunities to be short-listed for participation in short-term overseas attachment and training courses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Superintendent in maintaining naval systems at high availability and readiness.
• Perform maintenance tasks onboard vessels, in workshops, and at shipyards.
• Troubleshoot system defects and perform corrective actions.
• Carry out installation and removal of equipment and systems.
• Refurbish electronic units and assemblies to restore functionality.

Academic Qualifications:

• NITEC or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related fields).
• Naval-related maintenance training certifications are advantageous.
• Requirements & Skills:
• Solid working knowledge of underwater, mechanical, electronics, and electrical systems on commercial and military vessels.
• Familiarity with maintenance regimes and basic troubleshooting down to card level.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required.
• Capable of handling challenging customer interactions professionally.
• Willingness to work outdoors and onboard naval platforms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Willing to sail for up to a week when required.

Singaporean only due to security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Engineer, who will be responsible for Electro-Optics System site support, perform troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and failure analysis to determine the cause of failure for the system. Diagnose and repair EO system issues in lab by using logical, step by step approaches to ensure minimal downtime for the customers. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong technical foundation and is eager to learn and grow at the same time ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks

• Support the team on Electro - Optics and surveillance systems for preventive and corrective maintenance at sites/vessels
• Update all fault reporting documentation for monthly project meeting
• Liaise with customer for maintenance activities, Able to communicate effectively with customers
• Perform in house repair of EO equipment
• Perform a rotational 24x7 standby services for fault recovery works at various locations
• Able to work offshore and Work At Height
• Support System setup, testing and installation
• Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Perform other duties as assigned by superior

Requirements:

• Min ITE certificate / Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Computer Engineering
• Possess Singapore Class 3 Driving License if any
• Positive work attitude, self-motivated, creative and resourceful with a customer first mind set
• Independent, hardworking and able to work under pressure
• Able to handle emergency situations outside of normal work hours when required
• Good interpersonal skills, organizational, problem solving and teamwork skills.
