We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our growing team developing next-generation electrical interfaces to diamond quantum sensors based on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers. The successful candidate will lead efforts to develop novel electrical readout, control, and sensing architectures that complement or potentially replace conventional optical detection methods.

Job Description

We are seeking one highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic team at the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI), Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the National Centre for Engineering Biology (NCEB).  

The selected Research Fellow will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI) and our research team on projects aimed at advancing sustainable bioproduction. Ideal candidates will possess expertise in metabolic pathway engineering, microbial engineering and the development of cell factories for bioproduction. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our environmental informatics team. In this role, the candidate will build and maintain the data infrastructure that underpins our environmental monitoring and early-warning systems. The work will involve diverse, high-volume data streams — including rainfall records, temperature sensors, radar imagery, and computer vision outputs — to deliver a unified, query table, and secure data platform that drives research, operational decision-making, and stakeholder dashboards. 

Key Responsibilities
1.  Environmental Data Platform
•    Design, build, and maintain a unified database to ingest and store diverse environmental data streams: rain gauge records, gridded temperature data, rainfall radar (e.g. OPERA, NEXRAD), satellite imagery, and computer vision model outputs.
•    Define and enforce common data schemas and ontologies across heterogeneous source formats (NetCDF, HDF5, GeoTIFF, CSV, JSON, REST/API feeds).
•    Implement scalable ingestion pipelines supporting real-time streaming and batch historical loads.
•    Ensure data traceability with robust metadata, provenance tracking, and versioning.

2.  Data Processing & Quality Assurance

Job Purpose

The Research Fellow / Research Engineer (with focus on MedTech / HealthTech Engineering) will support applied research and innovation in community and allied health by translating clinical and operational needs into engineering requirements, prototypes, technical evaluations, deployment support and evidence reports. The Department of Architecture, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Department of Built Environment are jointly conducting research on harnessing regional tropical timber/bamboo for sustainable and durable mass engineered timber (MET) products for the Tropics. We are looking for one candidate who can contribute in the following areas:

•    Prototyping and Adhesive Testing
•    Timber/Bamboo Grading and lamellar strength determination/classifications guidelines
•    Range of product sizes and configurations and their respective design data/properties for Glulam / CLT / Laminated Bamboo Lumber (LBL)
•    Factory production control and audit practices / requirements
•    Assist in technical studies on the different timber and non-timber /MET products
•    Assist in preparing manuscripts for academic journal articles, filing of patents and/or conference presentations.

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for developing printable inks based on natural material-derived precursors, such as natural materials-derived calcium phosphate, or related biomineral materials. The work will involve optimizing ink rheology, printability, shape fidelity, and structural stability for extrusion-based 3D printing. The candidate will also design and fabricate porous scaffold architectures with controlled pore size, porosity, and interconnectivity, while optimizing printing parameters such as nozzle size, extrusion pressure, printing speed, and layer height.

A key part of the project will involve post-processing and material conversion of the printed constructs. The candidate will develop and optimize sintering or thermal treatment protocols to convert printed structures into bone-relevant ceramic phases. Through this process, the candidate will help tune the phase composition and mechanical performance of the scaffolds, with the goal of producing reproducible and scalable bone implant prototypes.

The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.
