NIE invites suitable applications for the position of Senior Executive / Executive, Research Support and Grants Management with the Office for Research (OfR). The Research Support and Grants Management Unit manages pre and post award administration of internal and external research grants, enabling NIE faculty to secure research funding and administer grants effectively in compliance with funding and institutional requirements.  The unit also oversees all Research Support functions in capacity building faculty staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the NIE faculty in the administration of both internally-funded and externally-funded research grants at the pre and post-award stages.
• Facilitate research grant administration processes, including grant applications, completeness checks, grant awards, grant variations, progress reports, final reports, and grant closure processes.
• Coordinate research grant administration policies, guidelines as well as terms and conditions in accordance with funding agencies’ and Institute’s regulations, including compliance requirements.
• Provide consultation to research teams on grants processes, budgeting, and guidelines as and when required.
• Collaborate with team members in research support initiatives/events that are organised by the Research Support and Grants Management (RSGM) unit.
• Design/create grant-related infographics, posters, and/or collaterals for stakeholder communication and events where required.
• Maintain the RSGM unit’s documents, webpages, databases, records, and SOPs so that they are updated in a timely manner.
• Facilitate appointment/reappointment and contract renewals for research staff who will be hired via NIE faculty’s research grants.
• Liaison officer with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors if necessary.
• Organise and provide secretarial and logistical support for NIE internal research grants’ review panel meetings, including recording of minutes.
• Support the Associate/Assistant Deans in RSGM matters as and when needed.
• Any other duties as assigned by the reporting officer.

Requirements

• A Polytechnic diploma.

• Preferably with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in research development, grant management, or a related role in a university or research setting.

• Able to learn fast, multi-task, prioritise, and work within tight timelines.

• Possess good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with faculty and staff across various departments.

• Strong team player.

• Strong numerical skills with an eye for detail with the ability to review and improve research proposals when necessary.

• Strong planning and organisational skills.

• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and willingness to learn or use new IT software, AI tools and applications as and when required.

• Able to monitor compliance in policies and uphold governance of policies.

• Experience in event management will be an added advantage.

• Experience in traditional and digital marketing (e.g., designing infographics, website/social media) will be an added advantage.

Job Summary

The Network Infrastructure & Security Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of our network infrastructure, including routers, switches and firewalls. This includes supporting external vendors to deploy network assets and taking over control and maintenance from vendors from day 2 onwards. The role shall also be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining cybersecurity policies and controls to protect systems and data from evolving threats. A strong understanding of networking principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats are essential.

Solution Sourcing and Strategy

• Research, evaluate, and recommend new cybersecurity and network solutions to enhance our security posture and network capabilities.
• Conduct market analysis to identify emerging technologies, vendors, and best practices relevant to our infrastructure and security needs.
• Develop business cases and justifications for new solution procurements.

Vendor Management & Solution Deployment Oversight

• Manage and coordinate with external vendors throughout the lifecycle of solution deployment, from selection to post implementation review.
• Review and validate vendor provided designs, configurations, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with organizational security policies and network architecture standards.
• Oversee the successful integration of new solutions into the existing infrastructure.

Post Deployment Maintenance & Operations

• Perform ongoing maintenance, configuration, and optimization of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) and security systems (IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, antimalware, vulnerability scanners).
• Monitor network and system activity for suspicious behavior, security incidents, and unauthorized access, taking prompt action as needed.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and address weaknesses post deployment.
• Develop and implement incident response plans, leading efforts to contain, eradicate, and recover from cyberattacks.
• Manage and maintain identity and access management (IAM) solutions.

Security Policy and Compliance

• Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
• Conduct regular security awareness training for employees.

Troubleshooting and Documentation

• Diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues efficiently.
• Perform regular system updates, patching, and configuration management for network and security devices.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, security policies, and incident response procedures.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to integrate security into all aspects of the infrastructure and software development lifecycle.
• Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3 to 5 years) in a cybersecurity and/or network engineering role, with a strong emphasis on solution sourcing, vendor management, and post deployment operational maintenance.
• Hands-on network administration experience is required, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise routers and switches
• Hands on experience with network devices (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto) and various security tools.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF), VLANs, VPNs, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances.
• Knowledge of common attack vectors, security vulnerabilities, and defensive strategies.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and security tasks.
• Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX).
• Understanding of cryptography and secure communication protocols.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non technical stakeholders, and effectively liaise with and manage external vendors.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
• Detail oriented and highly organized.
• Proactive and eager to learn new technologies.

2. Batching

i) Checking of post-courseware and inform Ops on the follow up

ii) Updating and verifying of batch log file to ensure accuracy

3. Evaluation

You should possess the following:

• Minimum Diploma preferably in Training and Adult Education sector;
• No experience required as On-the-job training will be provided;

Position Overview

The core responsibility of this role is to provide technical and administrative support to ensure delivery of training courses that meet the required standards.

Training Operations

• Plan and coordinate resources and other logistics which are required to support training programmes and day-to-day operations, including technical assistance to ensure smooth operation of technical equipment, tools and training infrastructures.

• Timely uploading and submission of trainee’s course result, issuance of certificates and tracking of controlled documents.

• Collect, analyse and prepare data for submission in accordance with WSQ and Training Centre protocols.

• Support Service Quality Unit on course administrative matters

• Other duties and projects as assigned by the management.

Business Development

• Assist with marketing and outreach programme, including events, seminars and career roadshows designed to enhance the image of the Training Centre and increase course demand.

• Support any other corporate activities or events organise by ASPRI.

Suppliers Management

• Source, negotiate, monitor and feedback on the performance of outsourcing partners and vendors, ensuring compliance to technical specifications and service standards.

Quality Management

• Maintain and track various items under the training quality management system

• Assist management with preparation for audits and other regulatory requirements by Accreditation Bodies.
