Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Professor Zhou Weibiao on nutritional profile analysis and in vitro digestion of food materials under a project on alternative proteins, funded by the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme 2.0.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
The candidate shall join a multidisciplinary team at NUS to support the development of plant-based meat products with improved digestibility, nutritional quality, and functionality. This position will focus on establishing an advanced in vitro digestion approach to evaluate protein digestibility and conduct comprehensive nutritional profile analysis of alternative protein products.

In addition, he/she will help supervise final year undergraduate projects.

Qualifications

• Qualifications / Discipline:
B.Sc. (for Research Assistant appointment) or M.Sc. (for Research Associate appointment) in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field from an internationally reputable university

Strong wet laboratory and analytical skills

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the implementation, testing, and validation of the high-frequency ultrasound research platform through experimental setup, data acquisition, software development, and day-to-day technical execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation, and testing of signal processing and imaging algorithms for high-frequency ultrasound structural and functional imaging.
• Support experimental setup, data collection, phantom preparation, system calibration, and routine operation of imaging hardware and associated measurement equipment.
• Conduct bench top and phantom experiments according to defined protocols, and assist in organizing, processing, and documenting experimental data.
• Develop and maintain software scripts, processing pipelines, and visualization tools for imaging experiments and performance evaluation.
• Support system integration activities involving sensors, data acquisition hardware, software interfaces, and computational workflows.
• Help prepare technical documentation, reports, figures, and datasets needed for project reviews, publications, and presentations.
• Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and equipment logs, and support procurement, setup, and troubleshooting of components and consumables.
• Assist in training and supporting students or project users in the use of the developed systems and software.
• Perform other project-related technical duties assigned by the Principal Investigator or senior research staff.

Job Requirements

• MTech, MSc, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of signal processing, imaging, electronics, instrumentation, or medical device-related development.
• Hands-on experience in programming, preferably in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar environments.
• Experience in experimental work, data collection, and system troubleshooting is desirable.
• Familiarity with ultrasound imaging, biomedical instrumentation, image processing, or machine learning is desirable.

Research Assistant/Associate (Community Innovation and Applied Social Research)

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design(SUTD) invites applications for full-time Research Assistant/Associate appointments to support applied research and innovation projects on people, communities, and cities.

The position is suited for candidates with strong interests in mixed-methods social science research, social policy innovation, community development, and translating research into real-world impact. About the role

The successful candidate will contribute to projects in LKYCIC focusing on understanding how social and built environments shape individual and community outcomes, and how research can be translated into practical interventions, programmes, policies, and design solutions.

Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and reliable research technician to operate and manage our sputtering system, support day-to-day experimental work, and ensure smooth lab operations. This role is critical in enabling consistent thin film deposition for internal R&D and external projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate and manage a sputtering system (e.g. AJA International sputtering system) independently
• Perform thin film deposition for various projects and customer requirements
• Execute day-to-day experiments following defined process parameters and protocols
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and process deviations
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs, including vacuum systems (pumps, leak checks, seals), gas lines and plumbing and electrical connections and wiring
• Support process optimization and data collection

• Conduct membrane related projects for desalination, decarbonization, resource recovery, etc.
