Summary
Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment used in hospitals and day surgery centres.

Key Responsibilities:

• Decontamination checks: Receives washed instruments from wash area. Inspect for cleanliness, blood, tissue
• Functionality test: Check scissors for sharpness, artery forceps for locking, any damage instruments and power tool functions.
• Set assembly: Assemble instruments sets according to count sheet. Ensure all components are present.
• Identify and segregate damaged, rusty or faulty instruments. Tag for repair or condemn as per company policy.
• Packing technique: pack and wrap sets using approved packing material. Use correct aseptic folding techniques to maintain sterility.
• Indicators: Place internal chemical indicators inside each pack. Attach external process indicator tape with ID, date and staff name.
• Special items: Pack loaner sets, power tools, delicate microsurgical instruments per manufacturer instructions.
• Load and sterilize instruments/sets correctly. Run daily bowie dick and leak test.
• Expiry checks:  Monitor sterile stocks for expired items. Rotate stock using FIFO
• Adhere to infection control. Keep room clean at all times.
• Stock control: order and top up materials as needed.

Requirements:
Possess WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services) or GCE N/O levels usually preferred.

1 to 3+ years of operating theatre or clinical setting experience is typically expected.

Depending on the allocated section (Inpatient / Outpatient / National Centre for Infectious Diseases / Quality Control/Emergency Pharmacy), you will assist the pharmacists in prescription processing, to ensure accuracy and targeted waiting times are met. You will also assist the pharmacist-in-charge in planning and facilitating pharmacy operations.

Job Specifications

1.    To manage the preparation and use of practical resources, chiefly within the chemistry lab, but may occasionally include biology and physics labs:

• providing assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the chemistry curriculum related to the GCE O-level practical exam, as well as other school assessments and lab curriculum and activities;

• liaising with teaching staff on the requirements and schedule of lessons;

• preparing of resources and assemble lab apparatus;

• organizing and maintaining the preparatory room;

• giving technical advice to teachers and students;

• assisting teaching staff and students in practical classes & carrying out demonstrations.

2.    To work closely with the senior lab technician to ensure the maintenance of a safe working environment in the science labs and preparatory room through:

• keeping up to date with current procedures and practices through continuing professional development;

• provision of technical advice and support on safety issues to teaching;

As an Air Conditioning Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Carry out installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair works for a wide range of air-conditioning systems such as split units, casement units, and cassette-type systems
