The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily store and inventory functions of the metalworks factory. The role involves receiving, checking, storing, issuing, and recording materials, tools, consumables, and spare parts accurately. The position supports production, purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams by ensuring proper stock control, timely material availability, and good housekeeping within the store area.
Key Responsibilities
• Receive incoming materials, tools, hardware, consumables, spare parts, and other factory supplies.
• Check delivery orders, purchase orders, quantities, specifications, and physical condition of incoming goods.
• Arrange proper storage, labelling, and identification of materials in the store or warehouse area.
• Issue materials, tools, and consumables to production, fabrication, installation, and site teams based on approved requests.
• Maintain accurate records of stock movements, material issuance, delivery orders, goods received notes, and inventory documents.
• Update stock cards, Excel records, ERP systems, or inventory management systems where applicable.
• Assist in regular stock counts, cycle counts, and physical inventory checks.
• Report stock shortages, damaged goods, discrepancies, slow-moving items, and minimum stock level issues to supervisors or purchasing team.
• Support purchasing and operations teams in monitoring material availability and replenishment requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers, drivers, production staff, warehouse personnel, and internal departments for delivery and collection matters.
• Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the store, warehouse, and material storage areas.
• Follow workplace safety requirements when handling heavy materials, sharp edges, lifting equipment, pallets, and factory equipment.
• Assist in loading, unloading, packing, and arranging materials when required.
• Perform any other store, warehouse, logistics, or administrative duties assigned by management.
Requirements
• Minimum GCE “N” Level / GCE “O” Level qualification. NITEC, Higher NITEC, or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline will be an advantage.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in storekeeping, warehouse, logistics, inventory control, or factory store operations.
• Experience in a metalworks, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or industrial environment is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of receiving, issuing, labelling, storing, and recording inventory items.
• Able to use Microsoft Excel and basic computer systems for stock records and reporting.
• Experience with ERP or inventory management systems will be an advantage.
• Forklift licence will be preferred.
• Able to perform physical work and handle materials in a factory environment.
• Responsible, organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and coordination skills when working with supervisors, purchasing, and production teams.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
• Understanding of material storage, stock control, minimum stock levels, and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to read basic item descriptions, part numbers, delivery orders, and purchase order details.
• Good housekeeping habits and awareness of factory safety practices.
• Basic coordination skills for deliveries, collections, and material issuance to internal users.
