Freight Management
Job Summary
The Executive/Higher Executive - Operations (Freight Management) is responsible for freight forwarding permit processing from preparation, application submission through to final inspection. He/She is also responsible for advising customers on import and export rules and regulations for complex freight.
Systematic and logical, he/she is also responsible for prompt and accurate permit declaration and providing precise information to airlines, carriers, destination/ origin co-loaders and customs, and attending to customers' enquiries, handling claims and cargo discrepancies.
Analytical and systematic, he/she is required to plan and review complex freight and persuasive to manage stakeholders and customers.
He/She is also expected to work with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish his work. He/She is also expected to coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop freight solutions.
Job Responsibilities/Key Tasks(External)
Perform Freight Forwarding Tasks
- Advise customers on the most cost-efficient freight shipment alternatives based on prevalent tariffs, insurance and quotes
- Communicate with export and import customs authorities in relevant territories and countries to ensure efficient customers clearance
- Implement innovative logistics solutions that address customer needs
- Identify appropriate solutions to address customer queries based on sales/customer management knowledge
Perform Cargo and/or Material Handling and Delivery Tasks
- Execute changes in industry standards or sector requirements in cargo documentation
- Execute contingency plans for cargo-handling and delivery operations
- Perform cargo acceptance documentation and handle customs clearance processing according to industry standards or sector requirements
- Plan cargo-handling and delivery operations in compliance to rating principles as well as operator variations
- Organise cargo documentation process according to industry standards or sector
- Plan cargo or material-handling security procedures
- Follow cargo or material-handling security procedures
- Resolve incidents and crisis arising from day-to-day operations.
- Support department in incident or crisis management initiatives
- Evaluate carrier performance to ensure on-time shipments
- Organise documentation for transshipment and transloading operations
- Processing or Accepting Dangerous Goods Consignments
- Organise documentation for specialised cargo
Business and continuous Improvement Activities
- Administer purchase orders and payment process
- Review areas in logistics operations where technology can enhance processes
- Leverage on data analysis to build insights on technology usage
- Determine key messages to communicate to internal stakeholders for application of latest technology trends
- Evaluate the costs and benefits of current business processes within warehouse operations
- Evaluate risks associated with different approaches of process changes
- Work with allocated resources to ensure alignment of interest within business activities processes
Compliance and Documentation
- Follow standard and established compliance-related administrative activities.
- Perform checks in accordance with internal SOP, policies and government regulatory requirements to identify non-compliance.
- Assist in managing import and export documentation administration.
- Perform basic risk assessment
Others
- Undertake any assigned projects / duties directed by Management (if any)
Job Requirements
- Proficient in MS Office Applications / Microsoft Power Platform Applications.
- Strong understanding of transportation and supply chain processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance
- requirements.

- Basic knowledge of SAP / Warehouse Management System (WMS) / Supply Chain Software / Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) Systems / Freight Management System (FMS)
- Willingness to take on any other secondary appointment(s) as assigned
Professional Qualifications & Relevant Experience
- Diploma/ Degree in Business / Logistics / Supply Chain or equivalent certifications
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in Freight Operations or logistics.
