Role Overview
This role is responsible for designing, building and implementing large distributed systems using Java-based microservices, with a focus on architecture quality, scalability and best practices across the technology stack
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Architecture Design, program and implement large distributed systems with microservices, covering application, infrastructure and security architecture, and non-functional aspects such as performance, scalability, reliability and availability.
- Requirements Translation Translate functional requirements into technical design and work with technical subject matter experts to ensure requirements are understood and met.
- Standards & Best Practices Define best practices and standards for microservice implementation and identify appropriate implementation patterns.
- Tooling & Quality Lead efforts to build accelerators and tools that improve the quality of deliverables, and continuously seek more efficient ways to manage and utilize technology and platforms.
- Technology Evaluation Evaluate industry technologies and recommend appropriate changes to technologies, platforms and systems to meet customer and operational requirements, factoring in cost, portability, compatibility and usability.
- Risk & Solution Guidance Highlight design risks, provide alternative options and recommend quality solutions to technical problems.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 7+ years of technical experience in architecture development, integration of backend systems and application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, SOA, REST and SOAP services development, and Java Microservices with RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in core Java fundamentals (Java 8+), Spring, Spring Boot, and testing frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber.
- Experience with design patterns, clean code practices, and designing/coding scalable microservices.
- Experience with middleware/messaging technologies (e.g. MQ, JMS, Kafka) and event-driven design patterns; experience with Spring Cloud and API Gateway-based API management.
- Experience writing deployment pipelines for Java microservices in Kubernetes; strong ability to create/define Swagger specs for REST APIs and apply REST principles and guidelines.
- Knowledge of OAuth token-based authentication protocol and PCI/security coding standards.
- Experience in TIBCO BusinessWorks/EMS messaging and migrating TIBCO services to Spring Boot microservices is a plus.
- Experience in the banking/financial services industry is a plus.
- Good to have: experience with MSSQL, data modelling, query development and performance optimization; experience with business rule management systems (e.g. JBoss, JRules, jBPM, iLog, Drools).
