Responsibilities
Under this internship programme, you will be attached to the LNG Trading department in JERA Global Markets, working with the LNG Freight Trading team to develop tools and utilisation of data to value LNG shipping deals. This will provide an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of LNG Trading, LNG Shipping, optimisation of an LNG asset-backed portfolio, and to understand how to assess the value of Shipping assets in LNG trading.
- Support LNG freight trading desk with market analysis.
- Develop (automating if possible) internal IT tools and models for the team to follow trading positions, evaluate TC opportunities /calculate value and speed up Freight trading decisions.
- Assist in charter evaluation opportunities , including Carbon cost impacts (FuelEU/EU ETS)
- Produce weekly and monthly market reports and outlooks, and contribute to LNG shipping research and fleet analysis.
- Recap trades for operations, coordinate with internal teams on done deals, and ensure proper documentation and filing of the freight trading activities.
Qualifications
- Understanding of energy trading and shipping is a must
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a global team
- Strong Excel skills required
- Coding / programming knowledge is an advantage
- Self-motivated and able to take ownership of a project
