Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics, School of Computing (SoC). SoC is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights, developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building large-scale experimental systems and improving the well-being of society. We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support an academic project at the intersection of data science and operations management. The role involves processing large, semi-structured datasets and preparing them for statistical analysis. The RA will work with real-world proprietary data related to retail operations and support the PI in developing data-driven insights for research with industry and societal relevance.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Management, Economics/Econometrics, or related quantitative fields
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis (e.g., pandas/data.table, SQL)
- Experience working with large, real-world datasets
- Familiarity with statistical modelling, monte-carlo simulations, econometrics, or causal inference
- Ability to communicate technical work with clarity
- Strong ownership and attention to detail
- Experience with retail, supply chain, or operations data is a plus.
