The Engine Overhaul business has the capability to service all products in the Trent engine family, this includes Trent 500, Trent 700, Trent 800, Trent 900, Trent 1000 and Trent XWB; SAESL is the only Trent engine MRO that can support all product variants. The Engine Overhaul business has the capacity to repair and overhaul over 300 Trent engines per year and it is equipped with a state-of-the-art Engine Test Facility that supports our best-in-class engine turnaround times.

Job Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with mandatory procedures, quality standards, and inspection requirements across all shop floor operations.
  • Enforce adherence to approved work instructions, technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality control processes.
  • Support investigations into quality issues by contributing to root cause analysis and implementing effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Process Management & Inspection

  • Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of engine modules and hardware in accordance with technical specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Verify that inspection criteria, documentation, and process controls are consistently applied throughout the production process.
  • Identify, contain, document, and escalate non-conformances to prevent defect escape and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure traceability in accordance with quality management system requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Analyse defect trends, rework data, and process performance to identify opportunities for quality and process improvements.
  • Support initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY), reduce defects, and enhance overall product quality.
  • Drive standardisation and simplification of quality processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and operational performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues and maintain effective process control.
  • Provide quality guidance and technical support to production teams to ensure compliance with established quality requirements.
  • Promote a strong quality culture through proactive engagement, coaching, and regular shop floor presence.

Shift Operations Support

  • Work on a rotating shift schedule to support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure consistent quality assurance coverage across all shifts while maintaining inspection standards and responsiveness.
  • Conduct comprehensive shift handovers to ensure effective communication and continuity of critical quality issues and ongoing actions.

Qualification / Experience

  • Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline. Candidates with a diploma and at least 6 years of relevant experience in the aviation industry will be considered.
  • Good knowledge of large commercial aircraft engines and aviation maintenance processes.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and SAP.
  • Willingness to work on-site on a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays, to support operational requirements.
