[What the role is]
The primary role of a School Counsellor is to work with staff, students, parents, external professionals and community agencies to provide quality school counselling support for students’ mental health and social-emotional development.
[What you will be working on]
- Provide individual and group counselling to the student population
- Conduct case management with stakeholders (staff, parents and external agencies) to extend support for students
- Support crisis intervention and management of affected students
- Support the counselling team for needs analysis, early identification and referral of students with challenges
- Support staff training on mental health issues and intervention skills
- Support the planning of training programmes and wellness campaigns to raise awareness and understanding of mental health amongst students
- Perform administrative duties and documentation of case notes and records
- Advise school management on counselling matters
- Network with relevant external professionals and community agencies
- Complete ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Office of Student Support
[What we are looking for]
- Minimum education qualification of Masters in Counselling
- One to two years of work experience in education, counselling and/or volunteer work involving youths
- Must be resourceful and be able to work independently
- Strong in administrative and communication skills (spoken and written)
- Good team player ,with strong interpersonal skills
- IT savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
