The Engine Overhaul business has the capability to service all products in the Trent engine family, this includes Trent 500, Trent 700, Trent 800, Trent 900, Trent 1000 and Trent XWB; SAESL is the only Trent engine MRO that can support all product variants. Job Summary
This role is primarily responsible for conducting all metallurgical laboratory activities to support daily production, repair development, and process investigation requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing in the laboratory for daily production, repair development processes, and process investigations (e.g. thermal spray coating microstructure evaluation, welding hardness testing, tensile strength testing, etc.)
- Maintain laboratory database to track test samples issued, received, and corresponding evaluation results
- Ensure proper storage, documentation, and traceability of all test coupons and evaluation records
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database for all chemical products used in the laboratory
- Responsible for maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of laboratory equipment
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are consistently maintained in the laboratory
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies
- Coordinate and prepare samples for submission to external testing laboratories as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualification / Experience
- Diploma or Higher NITEC in Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a metallurgical laboratory preferred, with knowledge of aerospace materials and control of metallurgical processes
- Fresh graduates with the right aptitude will be considered
- Able to read and interpret work orders and perform in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to perform rotating shift work
- High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirator, safety shoes, and safety glasses
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
