What The Role Is
You assist the Commanding Officer in reinforcing ground safety supervision at the unit. You will implement corrective actions, propose initiatives to prevent safety breaches, and ensure enforcement of safety in the workplace towards zero incident.
What You Will Be Working On
- Ensure that the unit adheres to safety guidelines and policies by physically walking the ground, actively observing operations
- Conduct daily workshop inspections to assess safety compliance within the unit
- Develop recommendations for corrective measures when warranted by adverse trends, conditions, or procedures.
- Provide safety coverage for the unit's safety committee plans
- Forecast the unit safety workplan annually and conduct the unit's safety and health conference
- Ensure that safety personnel hold the relevant qualifications before allowing them to assume specialist appointments
- Maintain the Unit's Safety Policy, Training Safety Regulation, Unit Occupational Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedure and Instructions
Challenge(s) - Establishing a strong and consistent safety management system for new servicemen joining the unit every quarter
- Staying current in personal knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and standards
What We Are Looking For
- Education in Workplace Safety & Health or a related field
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience is preferred
- Knowledge of workshop operating environments and safety practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Appointment will be commensurate with your experience.
