Pay is decent, but benefits are lacking

Working at Binance as a Software Engineer was an experience. The pay for crypto exchange roles is competitive, which is good. But the overall benefits package isn't quite there, especially for remote employees.

Pros

The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty solid, comparable to other big tech companies. You get paid in USD or local currency, which is convenient for remote work. They do offer some crypto bonuses if you hit targets.

Cons

Benefits are just okay. Don't expect top-tier health insurance plans or a great 401k match. It feels like they skimp on things like paid time off and parental leave for international staff. The focus isn't on a holistic compensation package.

Advice to Management

Focus on improving the non-salary benefits, especially for global remote teams. Things like comprehensive health insurance and better PTO go a long way in retention for a global crypto company.

Decent Pay, But Benefits Could Be Better Remote
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the base salary was pretty competitive for a global crypto exchange, especially for a remote role from Europe. They often pay in stablecoins, which is a neat perk if you're into digital assets.
Cons: The benefits package wasn't always top-tier compared to big tech firms. For a distributed team, some standard perks you'd get onsite are missing, which can be tough. It's good, but not groundbreaking for this industry.
Advice to Management: Standardize benefits across regions more, especially for remote employees. Improve clarity on bonus structures tied to company and individual performance for roles like mine.

Pay is fine, benefits are just okay
Pros: The base salary as a Compliance Analyst is definitely good for this market. You can make solid money in cryptocurrency exchange roles. Plus, bonuses are decent when the digital assets market is hot.
Cons: Healthcare benefits aren't anything special; they're pretty standard. There isn't much in terms of long-term incentives like stock options. The overall compensation package isn't as robust as big tech companies.
Advice to Management: Focus on upgrading the full benefits package. Clearer pathways for long-term incentives would help a lot with keeping talent.

Fast-paced crypto, but leadership could improve
Pros: I got some really good exposure to the fast-moving crypto industry, which is great for a Compliance Analyst like me. The remote work setup is pretty flexible too, which I appreciated being remote from London.
Cons: The biggest issue is leadership. It often feels like decisions come out of nowhere, with not much explanation. Transparency could be way better, making it tough to understand the bigger picture for decentralized finance roles. There's not enough middle management support.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent with the team and involve middle management in strategy. It helps with morale and makes people feel more connected.
