The CTO is a key contributor to Unilever International’s strategy and 5bn Growth. The role will be responsible both for IT operations and for technology and digital innovation. It is critical for the CTO to build strong and productive relationships with all business unit leaders on strategic, business, organizational & technology issues in close collaboration with global data and platform teams, acting as a true growth partner and making Digital a business growth enabler and a force for good.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Leadership

• Develop a Digital Transformation strategy (where to play) and implementation roadmap (how to win) from a technical and business perspective, as well as planning, prioritizing, and making decisions regarding our product roadmap.

• Develop the product and any prototypes required to achieve product market fit prior to scaling.

• Proactively advise the leadership team on the emerging technologies and digital trends that are most relevant to UI’s goals and evolving needs.

• Accountable for establishing total UI Digital plan, budget, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; and making prioritizations across the Digital service lines to best serve UI’s growth agenda.

• Build strong relationships with business groups and their leaders across the enterprise, and develop a detailed understanding of their issues, challenges and opportunities.

• Evangelize UI’s digital and data strategy to partners, management, investors and employees.

• Help determine capital investment parameters, priorities and risks for UI IT initiatives to maximize ROI.

Data and Analytics

• Implements solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, and machine learning techniques and statistics.

• Build data-science and technology based algorithmic solutions to address business needs.

• Communicate findings to analytics leads and business stakeholders.

• Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources.

• Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation and communicate those to wider analytics team.

• Prepares and conducts trainings and mentors team members on latest analytical methodologies.

• Applies a global approach to analytical solutions-both within a business area and across the enterprise.

IT Operations

• Direct the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the computing infrastructure that supports UI’s operations and business applications.

• Maintain oversight of all Technology projects, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored and reported.

• Establish a comprehensive enterprise information security program to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of relevant data.

• Establish and enforce IT policies, processes, portfolio management, development standards and methodologies.

• Guide risk management strategies, disaster recovery and business continuity efforts

• Monitor the industry for developments in IT operations; evaluate and implement relevant new tools and service management frameworks.

Capability Building and Change Management

• Building the e2e organization technical and digital competencies of UI

• Create a culture of digital growth mindset and upskilling

• Core IT Team- upskilling on latest technology and tools- what’s their capabilities plan

• Ruthless automation – vs being afraid of eliminating jobs- automation for growth

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven track record for delivering value at stake delivery (growth, savings, capacity release, and user NPS) from digital through clearly aligned objectives and key results (OKRs). Landing digital transformation and change management to ensure delivery of the aligned value at stake. Have strong engagement and influence skills with senior leaders on a €1Bn+ business

• Strong ability to rapidly scan and match within Unilever and externally for digital and data products with business priorities before starting internal builds

• Experience with building business cases (€10-15Mn) to support Capex and Opex investments required for digital transformation programs and projects

• Extensive experience in driving profitability and organizational growth with leading multinational organization

• At least 15+ years of working experience with at least 8 years in Regional / Global management role leading regional process / technology / operation management functions

• Possesses Business analytics skills, Data & Analytics for fast decision-making 

• Proven track record ensuring platform resiliency in a €1Bn business (ensuring composite technical uptime of all critical systems used by UI)

• Experience with building strong cyber security defenses and capabilities to prevent network penetration by hackers or other related threats

• Experience with building relevant platform and architecture recommendations required to support digital transformation programs

• A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data. A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision.Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Expert knowledge of an analysis tool such as R, Matlab, or SAS, experience in Azure Cloud and Microsoft AML stacks, SAP modules and operations, large data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.), SaaS, Salesforce, SAP, other cloud-based and outsourced solutions through third party providers

• Proven track record building high performing IT, data scientist, data engineering, and data and business analysts teams

• Builder of strong technology vendor partnerships, and able to manage multiple vendor relationships to ensure the best performance and financial return

Purpose

To lead and provide technical support to routine testing teams in the frame of the Analytical Science and Technology (ASAT) team around method development/ qualification/ validation/ verification and equipment qualification.

Key Responsibilities Area

Technical responsibilities

• Manages and implements method development/ qualification/ validation/ verification and equipment qualification required by routine testing team, including but not limited to new equipment, material and method introduction and compendial updates.

• Keeps up-to-date on regulations/ development of biopharmaceutical QC activities to ensure QC operations are in compliance to applicable corporate, regulatory and external agency regulations

• Leads/ manages investigation of non-conformities (events and deviations) and complex tasks (e.g. continuous improvements, department/ site projects and initiatives)

• Knowledge management on knowledge retention and effective training to ensure methods/ knowledge are effectively transferred to routine testing team Writes/ reviews/ approves change controls, events/ deviations, CAPAs and GMP documents (e.g. SOP, protocols, reports)

• Provides technical expertise and consultation to routine testing team on technical matters to ensure compliance to applicable corporate, regulatory and external agency regulations

S-Lab for Advanced Intelligence, established in 2020, is a university laboratory at NTU focusing on research and development of cutting-edge AI technologies in computer vision, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and distributed computing. We aim to create impactful applications spanning various strategic areas in partnership with academic, industry, and government organizations.  

We are seeking a research associate to join a university-level research centre collaborating with industry. The position is for one year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. Successful candidates will conduct research and develop advanced deep learning algorithms for multi-modality learning and 3D vision. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in relevant areas.

• To independently undertake research in computer vision and machine learning.
