Penn State Behrend is seeking applicants for a Metals Manufacturing Researcher. The successful candidate will collaborate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and community members to develop, coordinate, and promote effective initiatives to help manufacturers solve industry problems, support workforce training, implement advanced manufacturing technologies, advance the use of automation, and adopt industry 4.0 principles and technologies.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work on externally funded research projects. This includes, but is not limited to, carrying out laboratory work, identifying current research topics that align with Behrend’s core competencies in metals manufacturing, performing literature reviews to keep up-to-date on the current state of the art, writing research proposals, supporting funded research projects, and creating project reports.

As a Lead Quantitative Researcher, you will partner with and support the wider Product Management organization across all verticals. You will play a vital role in the product development lifecycle of new products and the continuous improvement of current products.
This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with an analytical and entrepreneurial spirit that is passionate about building innovative products, specifically in the digital asset trading space, and what cryptocurrencies and blockchain can do for the financial services industry as a whole.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct research and analysis: Perform in-depth research and analysis of market structure, digital asset data, order flow, and other relevant factors to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can aid in product definition.
· Develop quantitative models: Design and implement sophisticated quantitative models and algorithms to evaluate and predict market behavior, liquidity dynamics, price impact, risk management dynamics and other key variables in the digital asset markets.
· Product development: support the Product Management organization in developing complex product specs and creating buy-in for the product vision both internally (including c-level executives) and with key external partners.
· Product management: similar to all members of the Product Management team, be involved in defining & monitoring product success metrics, creation of Sales team enablement artifacts and other Bullish product explainers (i.e. turning complex into consumable).
· Read and comprehend academic papers: Stay abreast of the latest academic research and industry publications in the field of digital assets and related areas. Analyze and understand complex mathematical models and concepts presented in these papers.
· Explain research findings to a non-mathematical audience: Translate complex academic research and quantitative models into easily understandable explanations for non-mathematically trained stakeholders and clients. Effectively communicate the implications and practical applications of the research findings.
· Data analysis and visualization: Utilize advanced statistical techniques and data visualization tools to analyze large datasets and communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
· Stay updated with industry trends: Monitor and keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in the digital asset / blockchain ecosystem. Identify emerging opportunities and refine existing strategies.
· Documentation and reporting: Document research methodologies, findings, and results accurately and concisely, and present them to internal stakeholders and clients in a clear and coherent manner.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or related disciplines. A Ph.D. is highly desirable.
· Proven experience in quantitative research and analysis working alongside a Product Management team, preferably in the field of digital assets and/or financial services.
· Experience working with an Engineering team building innovative financial products.
· Strong knowledge of financial markets, derivatives, and risk management.
· Proficiency in statistical modeling and data analysis techniques, including time series analysis, regression analysis, machine learning, and optimization methods.
· Comfortable working in a dynamic organization where priorities can change frequently.
· Experience working in a distributed organization.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
