ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Research Associate/ Research Scientist to join the Antibody Engineering team. The job function will be to provide expertise in phage-display based approaches for antibody engineering and discovery. The successful candidate will provide important contributions to a fast-paced team with a cutting-edge technology platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and execute panning strategies using antibody phage display for antibody engineering and discovery
• Construction of antibody phage display libraries for the engineering of antibody attributes
• Develop and execute high-throughput assays for antibody screening and characterization utilizing ELISA and flow cytometry
• Plan and conduct the conversion of phage antibody fragments to recombinant antibodies using standard molecular biology techniques and CHO-based antibody expression

About the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP)

Optimizing the performance of health systems is essential to ensuring the wellbeing and longevity of populations worldwide. Singapore is particularly well placed to lead research in this field as its health system has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world based in independent evaluation with the Global Burden of Disease data. The new Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP) aims to advance research in this area within the Yon Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the leading centre for research in health systems in Asia with the following core functions:

1. Research: empirical and methodological research and evidence synthesis on health systems performance with a particular focus on Value Based Healthcare.
2. Health policy intelligence: health policy impact analysis aimed at policy makers, service providers, researchers, and the wider public.
3. Capacity building: formal postgraduate programme (from certificates to PhD), fellowships, mentoring, on-the- job and ad hoc training

Job Description

The multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators working in CRiHSP will provide an exciting and dynamic place in which people of diverse backgrounds collaborate towards the common goal of achieving excellence in Health Systems Research. The team will further benefit from a significant expansion in related fields and collaborations with the Department of family Medicine at the National University Health System (NUHS), the new Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM) and the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Sciences Interventions (BISI) at the School of Medicine and the Saw See Hock School of Public Health.

NUS offers highly competitive remuneration packages. The successful applicant will be offered an annual salary plus benefits commensurate with his or her qualifications, experience and expertise and will have access to travel support to disseminate research outcomes at international academic conferences.

The position is a 2-year full-time appointment at the academic rank of Senior Research Fellow (particularly strong applications at the level of Research Fellow will be considered). An option to renew the appointment for subsequent years will depend on performance and continued funding for the project. There is the possibility to move to tenure track depending on performance. Start date is flexible, with the position expected to commence in the first half of 2024.

Purpose of the post

CRiHSP is hiring a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise in health services and policy research and evaluation combined with experience translating science and evidence into real-world change. They will make a significant contribution to setting up and developing the centre at this crucial stage in relation to its research, training, evaluation and engagement areas of activity. The successful candidate will report to the CRiHSP Director of Research. The role provides a rare opportunity to work at the centre of this rapidly evolving field, shaping the future of healthcare and clinical practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

• Establishing an independent research programme as aligned with CRiHSP priorities by securing external funding;
• Supervising of junior research staff in data collection, analysis and dissemination;

• Facilitating the integration and curation of clinical and other routinely collected data across (NUHS)

Requirement:

• Master's Degree and above in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years of hands-on Mechanical and Electrical experience.
• Possess broad base of knowledge with understanding and skills in the following areas: Electrical, Fabrication, Tool Making, Machining.
• Must be proficient in the use of machine shop equipment and all hand tools including saws, sanders, drills, grinders, press, brake, shear, lathe, milling machine.
• Able to operate test equipment that measures temperature, electricity, light, flow, pressure, strain, force, distance, time, noise and weight.
• Can work from prints, sketches, written and verbal instructions.
• Reads wiring/electrical and piping schematics and engineering drawings.
• Electrical experience/training in use of and design of AC and DC circuits.
• Piping experience and ability to use electrical test equipment and measuring tools necessary.
• Self-motivated, team player with excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Experience and knowledge of the following areas preferred:

1. Rapid Prototyping
2. Testing and Design Controls
3. Installation
4. Design

Clinical Research The post holder will: Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care during participation in clinical research visits. Manage own clinical workload and co-ordinate allocated clinical trials and research studies. Practice in compliance with the code of professional conduct, being responsible and accountable for their decisions, actions, or omissions, taking responsibility for clinical decisions where competent to do so. Demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in the management of clinical research participants. Leadership and Management The senior research nurse post holder will: Initiate and develop effective relationships, fostering clarity of the research nurse role within teams, directorate and networks, to encourage productive and efficient working practices. Act as a role model for excellence in clinical research delivery & demonstrate the values of the OUHFT. Provide line management to research delivery team Education The senior research nurse post holder will: Critically assess and address own and teams CPD learning needs as research delivery nurse, and within clinical speciality working to a personal development plan that reflects the needs of the individual and clinical research delivery service. Critically reflects to maximise clinical & research delivery skills and knowledge development. Engage with performance reviews and appraisal processes, as required. Improving Quality and Developing Practice The Senior Research Nurse post holder will: Report all Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events in line with ICH-GCP, ISO 14155 and OUH NHS Trust Adverse Events Reporting policy. Promote the value of clinical research to potential participants, the public and NHS colleagues. Participate in dissemination of research results locally and nationally, as appropriate. Represent participants and clinical research delivery staff in the development and review of research protocols, ensuring the protocols are deliverable, as appropriate.
