The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the role of Research Fellow with the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The HRPC is a first-of-its-kind research centre, established at the NUS, to spearhead and conduct research and development to better enable the future challenges arising from rising ambient heat. Appointments will be made on a two-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

We are seeking a Research Fellow who will play a key role in driving the development, execution and analysis of research that leverage on technology and data science to address the challenges of training and operating in rising ambient temperatures. This role is part of a multi-disciplinary group comprising exercise and thermal physiologists, data scientists, biomedical engineers, built environment experts and researchers that will be focused on developing heat health prediction and thermos-physiological models.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with other teams in NTUpreneur in particular the outreach and OEP teams to ensure students get a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurship education.

Drive, oversee and implement the enhancement of students’ learning experience and monitor its effectiveness through strategic approaches.

• Oversee major academic events such as orientation, team bonding, learning progress, teaching and learning feedback, leadership development, and graduation celebration matters.
• Initiate and lead frequent, open communication with the students.

Oversee and implement undergraduate alumni engagement initiatives.

• Oversee the development of an archive compilation of alumni entrepreneurial stories.
• Facilitate networking opportunities among alumni with various internal and external stakeholders and add value to entrepreneurship community.
• Collaborate closely with other teams in this endeavour.

Develop an effective and competent staff team.

• Develop and guide a competent staff team to execute operations and assist in academic matters.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate the team to achieve excellence in administration.

Requirements:

• Degree with at least 10 years of experience in similar functions in Institute of Higher Learning or equivalent.
• Possess a good network and contacts of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and industry partners, and government/quasi-government agencies relevant to creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Possess excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilties:

• Offer assistance to the technical department
• Aid in the creation and upkeep of a repair database and the compilation of technical specifications
• Support the preparation of technical reports
• Assist in compiling and tracking technical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deliverables
• Coordinate with vessels and various departments for the procurement of spares, stores, and contractor services
• Ensure accuracy and systematic maintenance of technical drawings, manuals, plans, reports, certificates, and documents within a database
• Participate in ad hoc projects as assigned

Requirements:

• Possess a diploma in marine engineering or a related field (preferably maritime or engineering majors)
• Candidates with no prior experience are welcome to apply
• Demonstrate meticulousness, diligence, and professionalism
• Exhibit strong drafting and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel

Job Responsibilities:

· Receiving data from customers, processing data and liaise with customers for data accuracy if needed.

· Monitoring of automation programme

· Perform checking to ensure accuracy of data before sending out for production.

· Prepare documentation and monthly report.

· Other ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.

Job Requirements:

· At least 1 year or above related working experience as admin assistant, or experience in handling administrative duties.

· Candidate with IT background or prior experience in IT industry will be an added advantage.

· Candidate without relevant experience will be evaluated based on merit.

· Computer literate, with Excel knowledge and hands-on skill is an added advantage.

· Willing to learn, able to follow instruction and communicate in proper manner.

· Able to perform overtime work as and when required.
