Responsible for the accurate preparation, planning and delivery of treatment by self Participate as part of the team in the organisation of the radiotherapy work base. Be able to operate all equipment safely and efficiently as per manufacturers instructions, including local guidelines. Participate in ongoing clinical audit procedures as required. Responsible for assessing daily each patients fitness for radiotherapy procedure.

Service Delivery Participate in multiple site rotations as and when necessary. Act as an Operator under the IR(ME)R Radiation Regulations and assess the clinical justification of referrals to ensure that the benefit to the patient outweighs the radiation risk associated with the examination. Act as patient and staff advocate minimising their exposure to radiation. Provide timely, efficient and courteous provision of radiographic services to the agreed standards of the department taking account of the patient/clients clinical, physical and cultural needs. Monitor and adjust work priorities in conjunction with other professionals to take into account changing demands on the diagnostic services due to emergencies, ensuring that the Trust targets are met. Accountable for own professional actions and work within codes of Practice and professional guidelines Apply in-depth knowledge of anatomy, pathology and equipment to determine appropriate imaging techniques for the individual patient condition. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder is expected to troubleshoot patient care or technical issues in designated area. To supervise, instruct and take part in the use of complex radiotherapy calculations. To supervise, instruct and take part in treatment delivery and image guided radiotherapy. To supervise and participate in CT Scanning and Virtual simulation when required To be pro-active in the development and implementation of evidence based clinical practice in line with local and national initiatives, facilitating changes in service where necessary. To act as an expert resource on treatment delivery equipment, imaging and oncology management systems. Providing support and advice as appropriate. Be pro-active in the maintenance, improvement and development of their competence. To provide technical advice in the evaluation, procurement and introduction of new techniques, procedures and equipment. To be responsible for the equipment in the work area, ensuring that fault reporting and handover procedures are followed, working closely with medical physics and technical services staff to ensure that repairs and routine servicing of equipment is carried out with minimal disruption to service provision. To provide radiographic clinical leadership to research activity within the SW region which includes working with the Academy, imaging network colleagues, Trust staff and the private sector to develop, pilot and introduce software and artificial intelligence products into clinical practice. To be responsible for delivering high quality, effective research and investigations in the field of diagnostic imaging and cancer care, particularly in the development of artificial intelligence, providing and presenting reports and writing articles to the highest professional standards as required. To undertake a lead role in planning, co-coordinating, delivering, developing and evaluating artificial intelligence products in clinical services across the SW region, working with diagnostic imaging staff in multiple sites to deliver improved services to all patients including cancer patients. This is an autonomous and self-directing research role with a requirement to work flexibly to deliver the emerging diagnostic imaging research and AI in imaging agenda. This will include travel to other NHS sites across the region, other regional and national venues requiring either appropriate business car insurance or willingness to travel by public transport. To work with the SW universities and Trusts to develop a comprehensive research development and training offering to all diagnostic imaging and related staff, to be delivered by the SWITA. To proactively promote a culture of learning and the adoption of new technologies across the diagnostic imaging workforce in the SW regions imaging departments. To work collaboratively with health and IT leads across the Trusts as appropriate and promote the role of research and artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging to all stakeholders. To perform imaging examinations within The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) guidelines while adhering to local radiation protection guidelines.
