Radiotherapy Physics Services consists of a team of over 60 staff consisting of clinical scientists, engineers and currently 14 dosimetrists. We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced Planning Radiographer/dosimetrist to join the UCLH dosimetry team as part of the radiotherapy and proton therapy physics team.

Applicants should be State Registered or equivalent. Experience of treatment planning using Varian Eclipse planning system is desirable. The successful applicant will join a growing team of dosimetrists liaising closely with physics, clinical and radiographic staff in the in the provision of radiotherapy and proton therapy physics services. The ability to work and communicate effectively with the minimum of supervision is essential.

Candidates must have a clinical background with good knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology and pathology. As the dosimetry team is hybrid working, a good understanding of using Microsoft teams is also a essential requirement for this position.

The dosimetry team will be expected to produce photon and proton treatment plans for the UCLH case mix, including treatment complex sarcoma, head and neck, neurological and paediatric cancers.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in multidisciplinary discussions to produce the best treatment options for the patient.

The postholder will support the Senior dosimetrist in ensuring treatment planning pathways are delivered in a timely fashion across the radiotherapy and proton therapy services.

The postholder will support the development of new and existing techniques including production of the standard operating procedures and training competencies for staff.

We have an exciting opportunity at CUH Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT department for a motivated Radiographer.

For this you will already have proven experience in delivering a nuclear medicine and/or PET-CT Service. Additional training if needed will be given.

The department has 3 Gamma Camera’s, 1 PET-CT scanner, Radiopharmacy, sample counting and blood labs and we also have access to a cyclotron which provides some of PET-CT’s isotopes and is part of the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre

You will be involved in types of imaging that are not carried out anywhere else in the country and in some research instances the world. Due to our close links to the University and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, we can offer the opportunity to work with the most up to date technology and imaging protocols and be at the forefront of new research and development techniques.

You will have:
1. DCR (R)/BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and or BSc (Hons) Clinical Technology or equivalent.
2. Must have current HCPC Registration.
3. Experience in cross-sectional imaging is desirable; full and comprehensive training will be provided.

The main duties of the post includes evaluation of radiology requests, performing and reporting fluoroscopic examinations independently within their own scope of practice. The post holder will train to departmental protocols and to be accountable for their own professional actions including independent reporting. Once fully trained the post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner to carry out a range of fluoroscopy examinations across all patient pathways to a consistently high standard and produce high quality, independent reports ensuring compliance with imaging protocols. The advanced practitioner will produce and interpret high-quality images of the body to diagnose and confirm normality and abnormality, injuries, and diseases. Teaching and supervision of radiographers, students and Radiology registrars will be key to the role. Support of the Lead radiographers for the day-to-day organisation of the fluoroscopy & interventional service in accordance with Trust/departmental protocols will be part of the leadership aspects of the job. Responsibility for ensuring the annual Radiology audit programme is completed on schedule will be part of the governance aspect of the role, along with effective training of Non-medical referrers and the development and review of protocols. Be willing to work flexible hours when in Brachytherapy to deliver complex treatment pathways. To work between treatment and Brachytherapy areas to deliver consistent and accurate treatment techniques for both modalities. Gynaecological patients having brachytherapy have a complex pathway. To assist the Advanced Practitioner in booking and maintaining a smooth pathway through treatment and brachytherapy, being able to troubleshoot and resolve wide ranging problems with confidence and within the wider multidisciplinary team. To support the Advanced Practitioner in providing a radiographer-led vaginal vault service. Be willing to train and maintain competency in subsequent applicator insertions for standard plan patients including peer supervision and delegation under IR(ME)R licence of CCO.

Cooperation with other departments you inform our Key Account Managers about any problems or anomalies in workflow, so they can provide an accurate feedback to the clients.

Experience

Medical:  You have at least 3 years of experience as a radiographer or nurse in a radiology or emergency room, ideally dealing with CT scans.

RIS and PACS:  You have worked with RIS and PACS systems in the past and can describe yourself as technology savvy.

Language skills:  You will communicate with Swedish hospitals on a daily basis, therefore we require a native level of the Swedish language. Additionally, you need to demonstrate an advanced level of written and spoken English.
