KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical To be responsible for delivery of Physiotherapy within the area of general / complex medical conditions, prioritising clinical needs to provide an equitable and effective service. Communication To communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues, demonstrating highly developed verbal and non-verbal skills to communicate often complex information, managing barriers to communication such as dysphasia, learning difficulties, cognitive or sensory difficulties. To provide advice and demonstration to clients and carers in the use of equipment and other techniques to optimise the clients functional ability, independence and safety. To undertake joint visits with other professionals, as required. To maintain patient confidentiality in all communications. To attend team meetings to ensure effective team communication. To liaise with external agencies to assess for and arrange provision of appropriate equipment and adaptations to maximise independence. Documentation To accurately record all activity data and maintain clinical records, in a timely manner, via our electronic systems. Professional / Service Development To adhere to the HCPC and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapys Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL To undertake routine physiotherapy assessments using detailed questioning, physical examination and utilising routine techniques and tests. To formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes based on evidence based practice and routine treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of routine rehabilitation techniques. To agree the treatment plan and goals, with the patient, and to continually re-assess their response, in order to progress treatment effectively. To recognise contraindications to treatment from the assessment and to manage appropriately. This may involve referring on for further investigations or seeking advice form a more senior professional. To assess capacity for consent with all patients and whenever possible ensure that valid informed consent is agreed with the patient / family working within the legal framework. This will involve fully explaining the outcome of assessment, the options for treatment and the benefits and risks of any procedure or treatment and then reaching agreed treatment goals and outcomes. To possess efficient communication and interpersonal skills required to ensure the delivery of effective care, taking into account the complexity and variety of difficulties presented e.g. age, physical, emotional, cultural, cognitive, social and behavioural. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team where shared skills will form part of the working practice, and act as a physiotherapy resource to the team. To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise a patients rehabilitation potential. Plan and co-ordinate with other agencies e.g. social services and education as necessary. Essential Criteria

• Hold a degree in Physiotherapy
• Registration through the Health Care Professions Council

Please note that if you are a current student and will graduate within 3 months of the closing date youmustinclude the date you will graduate in your application to be shortlisted.

Vacancies occur at all sites within the Trust, including the Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, Newham University Hospital & St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The London allowance is based on rotation location – WXH and NUH - outer London & SBH and RLH - inner London.

The current vacancy is on the Cross Site rotation but two potential rotation options may arise.

Interviews take placeface to facein January 2024 & will include a practical and a written element.

o To work in a diverse multicultural environment and refine and develop experience across specialist physiotherapy areas and rotations in the Trust on a six monthly rotation.
o To deliver specialised physiotherapeutic intervention to patients using highly developed skills in assessment and treatment of patients. This includes the delivery of exercise programmes and giving advice, information and emotional support to patients and carers in a wide variety of settings.
o To participate in the rotation scheme, which involves working across the Trust, over six sites in a range of ward settings, outpatient departments and in the patient’s own home.
o To contribute to the development of evidence based practice and clinical effectiveness during each rotation.
o To participate in the emergency and on call rota across the Trust
o The post holder will provide support and teaching/training to students on placement or newly rotated staff.
