About the team
The General Counsel team supports the firm’s senior management, partners, lawyers and staff with risk management, professional practice, governance and partnership matters. The team also works closely with the firm’s Ethics & Conflicts Partner, Professional Indemnity Partner and executive leadership. The General Counsel team is part of the firm’s broader Risk & Legal Excellence team, which combines a number of important functions to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management and excellence aligned with the firm’s strategic ambition.
About the role
This senior legal role, based in our Perth office, provides legal advice and support to the firm’s senior management, partners and staff across the firm on a diverse range of complex and challenging matters, including:
• The firm’s risk management policies and procedures;
• Ethics, conflicts and professional obligations;
• Contracts with clients, suppliers and other third parties;
• Responses to claims and issues involving the firm;
• Development and implementation of firm policies;
• Other risk management, governance and partnership matters.
Required skills and experience
• At least 5 years post-qualification legal experience gained in a commercial law firm or in house counsel role within a reputable organisation.
• Excellent technical legal skills, particularly within the fields of contract law, risk and compliance, and corporate governance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities that are subject to tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to liaise, interact and build relationships with a range of stakeholders including senior management, partners and business services employees.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
