The EHS Manager, San Diego is responsible for developing, managing, and executing EHS strategy and corporate EHS programs across all San Diego locations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and effective risk management. Responsibilities:
Lead a team of EHS professionals at the SD site to support implementation of EHS programs, processes, training, and systems for all San Diego (SD) locations and operations ensuring compliance with applicable laws and support the Illumina EHS mission and strategy.
Collaborate with Global EHS team to support the implementation of global EHS strategies, programs, guidelines, policies, processes, systems, tools, training, best practices, and actions.
Monitor, interpret and assess existing or emerging EHS laws, regulations, regulatory policy, and industry practices to determine operational and business impacts and develop action plans for further risk management.
Active participant on SD Leadership Teams, SD Emergency Management Team, and Americas (AMR) EHS Leadership Team.
Lead and document key EHS business processes such as EHS risk assessments, incident investigations and other occupational safety processes.
Partner and engage with SD and regional business partners to measure, analyze, and communicate EHS Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and metrics.
Manage the SD environmental programs such as hazardous waste management, industrial wastewater, storm water and air emission requirements.
Deliver EHS expertise for facilities changes, moves and enhancements in conformance with local building/fire codes.
Partner with Human Resources and Risk Management on the collaborative management of the workers compensation program
Liaison between Illumina and local SD regulatory agencies
Prepare and deliver training as needed in areas such as, but not limited to, chemical/lab safety, ergonomics, emergency response and life safety.
Frequently interact with direct reports and/or functional peer group managers, and customers to lead a cooperative effort among members of diverse project teams.
Active recipient of planning initiatives at the SD and AMR regional level, execution at site level.
Use business expertise to drive accountability and support of removing barriers during execution of initiatives.
Responsible for results, including costs, key performance indicator metrics and attainment of long-term regional strategy.
Advanced coaching and mentoring for direct reports as part of routine and proactive processes through individual development plans, quarterly check ins and real time clear concise feedback to help team realize full potential.

The estimated base salary range for the Manager, Environmental Health & Safety role based in the United States of America is: $115,800 - $173,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. This group of 120+ science professionals provide toxicology, hazard assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support that addresses the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals and microbes. We specialize in identifying and quantifying the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment.
The On-Call Environmental Health Scientist project work would support federal agencies (such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS) in conducting and reporting the results of hazard studies and supporting risk assessments of environmental pollutants and microbes.
Location: Remote. Hours: This is a part-time on-call position. The On-Call Environmental Health Scientist will work between 5 and 20 hours per week to support work on an as-needed basis. The hours are flexible.

The role
As a Safety, Health and Environmental Auditor you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. DRDL seeks to achieve and maintain the highest standards in the management of health, safety and the environment (SHE) in all its operations and you'll play a key part in ensuring this happens.
Day to day, you'll work as part as the SHE Assurance Team leading both workplace and desktop audits as part of the organisations audit plan. You'll be working both in our offices and the industrial site, this will include construction sites, surface ships, submarines and the estate / infrastructure functions audits.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Working with the SHE elements of the site audit plan to ensure audits are targeted and relevant
* Working as part of the small team of SHE Auditors to plan and lead / partake in scheduled (and emergent) audits against our SHE Management System and other requirements to ensure our operations are compliant
* Auditing our documented arrangements against set standards, but also at times viewing operations from end to end
* Completing audit reports (or consolidate team contributions to form reports) to a professional standard, which identify findings that are evidentially supported.
This role is a full time working 36 hours per week and will be based at our DRDL site.
Essential experience of the Safety, Health and Environmental Auditor:
* You must be an Auditor or SHE professional who has worked with Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems certificated to ISO standards.
* You must have experience of the application of SHE Management knowledge, at a practical level. This could be as part of industrial operations or as a SHE Professional. A range of disciplines / industries would be considered.
* You must have excellent communication and organisational skills. You should be self-motivated and be comfortable working on key work packages as part of a small team. Equally, you should be comfortable, at times working in isolation.
* You must be comfortable communicating and presenting through a range of mediums with both internal and external parties.
Qualifications for the Safety, Health and Environmental Auditor:
* You must have a current Auditor qualification certified to ISO standards OR currently working towards ISO standards OR hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management Certificate, holding both would be advantageous.
Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
