Job Scope:

• Responsible for all aspects of financial recording and reporting for our Japanese and Singapore business units, including posting of all AP and AR transactions, such as invoices and payments, posting of all journals, updating of all schedules such as fixed assets, prepayments and accruals, and completion of monthly management accounts.
• Maintain existing and create new spreadsheets associated with both our Singapore and Japanese business units such as bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepayments and accruals, reconciliations and controls, and financial KPIs.
• Maintaining petty cash expenses including office expenses and preparing of travel allowances for local and overseas employees operating in APAC and also UK & US.
• Processing employee expense claims, recording secondment costs for employees, seeking appropriate approval for payment, and preparation of payments for both Singapore and Japan employees.
• Completion and submission of the monthly Singapore GST return to IRAS, and similarly, annual Japan consumption tax return to Japanese tax authorities.
• Assisting with and eventually completing in full the Singapore monthly management accounts, including posting journals, maintaining fixed asset registers including depreciation charges, bank reconciliations, accruals and prepayments schedules and examining and explaining variances between actual and budgeted figures.
• Completion and submission of all annual schedules and returns for Japanese year end filing purposes, such as tax returns, depreciable assets returns and financial statements. • Working alongside the company accountant to prepare and complete year end accounts, supporting schedules and documentation for our Singapore business, in preparation for the annual financial audit. This also involves liaising with our auditors when onsite and providing them with additional information and explanations as required during their fieldwork.
• Assisting with the completion of annual financial budgets for both Singapore and Japan.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and two Assistant Finance Managers, you will be producing high quality financial information, including analysis of grants, commercial trial finances, monthly management accounts and forecasts.

You will be looking to develop your skills in providing sound support and advice to the research teams to help manage their research portfolio finances. You will have excellent communication skills and be highly computer literate, with excellent attention to detail.

The post holder will manage a section of the management accounts team and work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across GM Mental Health services to understand, plan and manage their financial position. The post holder will support the Finance Manager and their deputy as well as service area teams, demonstrating accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of highly complex or contentious financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues. He/she will constructively and positively challenge all aspects of service area financial and business performance and financial management processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Through a team of accountants the post holder is required to produce monthly budget statements and financial reports for agreement with the HoF for presentation at service area board meetings and to feed into the Trust’s position for internal and external corporate reporting.

This is a key role managing and leading a small, newly created, financial management team of 4 staff, responsible for providing financial support, advice, and guidance to a Clinical Board with total budgets in excess of £300m.

Job scope:

• Prepare and maintain accounting ledgers, journals and schedules
