Development Specialist can design (with support), execute, report and present experiment trials, sensory and consumer findings. This role is part of the consumer science team within R&D and interact with peers in other departments within and outside of R&D including external tasters and suppliers. In addition, at busy times, this role is expected to support other ongoing project activities outside of the immediate team. The Development Specialist has a hands-on approach, executing internal/external pilot plant trials, plant trials and tasting work for their own projects or to support others as well as providing thought leadership and applying their academic knowledge to JDE.
- selects appropriate sensory discrimination methodology and procedures and implements individual tests or studies as required by test/business objective
- aware of data collection software (Eye Question) and is fluent in conducting basic statistical evaluation and able to interpret the results for discriminative, descriptive & quant tests
- Communicates and discusses test results with the business partner(s), involving the supervisor, and agrees next steps
- Plans and executes pilot plant trials/product testing/ tastings under the guidance and support of a Specialist
- Analyses results and provides reports to Specialists or Managers in the team
- Responsible for operating / maintaining simple equipment and facilities. Assuring good manufacturing practices with respect to maintenance and hygiene
- Take care of administration and archiving results and writing & updating simple specifications to support projects
- Represents R&D in simple Adapt for Excellence projects.
- Adopts and follows all JDE technical systems and processes
- Support R&D sensory testing
- Write & perform standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and suggest adjustment of standardized methods for particular products and/or problems
