I'm pleased to be partnered once again with a long-standing client operating within the public sector in the recruitment of a Financial Accountant (interim and permanent roles available). They are based near central Sheffield with close links to public transport and main motorway links, offering free parking and close to major retail links.

Your new role
You'll be joining an established finance team with a deep array of talent on board. As Financial Accountant, you'll report directly to the Head of Department, overseeing a small team of junior staff providing leadership and direction to them and further fostering and developing a collaborative 'teamwork' culture.
Within your role, you'll take responsibility for producing statutory accounts and returns for key internal stakeholders at the highest level, whilst overseeing the delivery of an effective transactional service to the organisation via effective leadership.
Key functional aspects of your role will include:
- People management of a mid-sized transactional team, including KPI management
- Final accounts processes
- Balance sheet management
- Internal reporting and external returns including VAT
- Departmental lead on costing methodologies
- Continuous improvement leads within the department, particularly around year-end issues.
What you'll need to succeed
You must be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with full membership alongside the following skills and attributes:
- Significant, recent management or financial accounting experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work at pace and under pressure
- Ideally, experience of having led a mid-sized team previously
- Public sector accounting experience would be beneficial however is not essential.
