The Role:
As a Product Designer at MRI, you will work across the UX domain, including research (user interviews, product reviews, persona development), design (sketching, group ideation, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping), documentation (wireframes, specification writing), and user testing.
As part of a cross-functional team, you will collaborate with other designers and use qualitative and quantitative data to make informed, design-related decisions. You should be proficient at converting requirements into practical product features and have a high standard for visual design execution.
Functions:
Design user interfaces and process flows using iterative design techniques incorporating findings from user interviews, usability testing, and other forms of requirements discovery
Produce user personas, user stories, prototypes, wireframes, interaction and design specifications
Run ad-hoc usability tests with end users when needed and communicate research findings
Facilitate design review sessions with key stakeholders with the goal of advocating for the user needs
Engage with development to understand platform capabilities, communicate design goals, adapt and verify designs through the agile software development process
Create and maintain UI guidelines and visual standards
Identify opportunities for product or feature enhancements
Remain up-to-date on industry trends, market conditions, and consumer preferences
Iterate existing designs to meet industry or consumer needs
You Have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
4+ years’ experience as an information architect, interaction designer, product designer, user experience designer, and/or usability engineer
Proven knowledge of design aesthetics and solid understanding of User-Centered Design principles
Sharp attention to detail
Proficient in design tools, specifically Figma. Experience with other design tools such as Sketch and the Adobe Suite is beneficial
Understanding of cross platform, browser, and device design strategies
Relative experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript. While it is unlikely you will code, having knowledge of how Front-End code works is beneficial
Knowledge of responsive design techniques and challenges
Experience in contributing to a design system
Time and project management skills

About the role
As a Specialist UI Designer, you will drive and actively create the CommSec design language. Your team
The Digital & Customer Experience Chapter Area in CommSec comprises of UX Designers, UI Designers, Digital Product Managers and Customer Strategy experts. The team is responsible for evolving the digital experiences across web and app at CommSec.
Your core responsibilities include
Knowledge and application of Brand and tone of voice into graphical user interfaces
Design world class human centered experiences across the various digital channels and mediums
Prototype to create brand narrative as well as powerful visual storytelling to influence future direction of our experiences.
Ideate and conceptualise divergent ideas to explore solution options and converge on a subset of concepts that best solve for the identified problem space.
Development of innovative interface designs, typography, and screen layouts for web sites, and touch applications.
Actively contribute and evolve the CommSec Design Language and design system.
Create design documentation to be consumed by delivery teams in a scaled agile working environment.
Work with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of seniority to deliver the best user experiences to our target customers.
What we are looking for
Highly developed user interface and interaction design skills with applied knowledge of visual design, accessibility, responsive and scalable design
Demonstrated usage of tools such as Sketch, Zeplin, Figma and Adobe Suite
Experience in designing for native platforms in iOS, Android, and Web with working knowledge of Swift, Jetpack, React or similar
Demonstrated experience creating functional prototypes
A curious mindset with an aptitude and passion for learning new skills in analytics, content, research, and coding
An ability to confidently communicate with technical and engineering teams across multiple communication mediums to realise final execution
Demonstrated experience working with design systems including governance, maintenance, and documentation

On any given week you will
Manage several projects autonomously with overview from the Experience Design Lead
Work with Experience Designers and Lead to create and implement a cohesive UX strategy for our Business Banking products
Assist Lead to scope, plan and provide estimates for your projects
Use the digital strategy to deliver customer-centric experiences through the creation of decision trees, UI flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes including detailed documentation
Using data and exploratory research you’ll understand the customer and business drivers behind the products you’re designing, to deliver measurable outcomes
Manage stakeholders including diverse groups including Product Owners, Dev/Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Legal and Compliance representatives
Work closely with delivery teams to ensure design assets and specifications fit with their requirements, including Product Owners and Dev/Engineering teams, some based remotely
We are interested to hear from people who have
Expert knowledge of customer centred design balanced with commercial acumen
Strong communication skills with demonstrated success presenting design in a clear and persuasive manner
Confident cross-functional stakeholder management and influencing skills
Strong problem-solving, conceptual and design skills to drive solutions at all levels of detail across responsive web platforms
You are comfortable designing across web, responsive mobile and native apps.
An ability to visualise solutions in appropriate ways: e.g. flows, free-hand sketching, white-board facilitation, wire framing and prototyping
Experience using customer research, usability testing, behavioural or digital analytics to drive and enhance design optimisation
Skills in information architecture, task flow and/or decision tree mapping Experience designing for complex, transactional consumer interfaces across multiple devices
Experience successfully planning and managing UX project delivery within an Agile development framework to agreed timeframes and budgets
