The Department of Sociological Studies wishes to recruit a fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher to work with the ESRC Digital Good Network. You will work closely with other members of the Digital Good Network management team, especially Professor Gina Neff who is leading work on the Digital Good Index.

The successful applicant will join a growing community of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with the Digital Good Network, and will be encouraged to engage in network activities, from training to conferences, for your own development.

You will have a PhD or be in the process of submitting a PhD in a relevant area. You will have an understanding of translating social science/humanities research into societal impact and knowledge of guidance and recommendation of good societal uses of digital technologies. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and the ability to work effectively independently and part of a team, are essential

Responsibilities:

• Establish capabilities in Biomolecular MD Simulation and phase behavior of bio membrane.
• Setting up models (script + automation).
• Need to work on multiscale modeling of interfaces of different nature, in biology and materials science.
• Partner with internal collaborators in designing experiments for technology screening and MOA elucidation using computational methods.
• Transient phase behavior mapping across multiple dimensions in phase space.
• The focus will be developing models to understand from an atomistic level interfaces structural and dynamical phase behavior.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry (Organic/Physical/ Analytical), Physics, Bioinformatics or related fields (Chemical Engineering, Materials Science).
• At least having two years Postdoc experience.
• The applicant must have the Up-to-date knowledge and hands on experience on molecular dynamics simulations methods such as Atomistic, Coarse Grain Molecular Dynamics(CGMD), & Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) and computational chemistry (Quantum, QM/MM etc.).
• The applicant should have a strong background in Bio-membrane (Lipid Bilayer) MD simulations involved in fundamental biological processes or Gel Network Simulation.
• The applicant should have a strong background and hands on experience on Polymers/Natural Polymer MD simulations (Atomistic and CGMD).
• Development and implementation of algorithms and software for molecular simulations and programming skills (Perl, Python, C++, etc.) are desirable.
• Previous experience in combining simulations with Analytical experiments and Finite Element Modeling are a plus.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills are required. Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment is expected.

• Conduct thorough research on a wide range of topics related to unscripted and documentary television content, including historical events, social issues, scientific advancements, and human interest stories.
• Utilize prompt engineering skills or willingness to learn to create and implement research tools and systems that enhance efficiency and streamline the research process.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, current events, and emerging topics, including advancements in AI technologies, to provide valuable insights and recommendations for content development.
• Demonstrate a keen curiosity and aptitude for learning new AI technologies, tools, and methodologies, and apply them effectively to support research efforts and optimize content creation.
• Gather and analyze data from various sources, such as books, articles, online databases, and interviews, to ensure accuracy and depth of research.
• Generate innovative and compelling ideas for TV programs, episodes, and segments that resonate with our target audience.
• Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, and establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as experts, academics, and potential interviewees, to facilitate research and collaboration opportunities.
• Provide support during production, including assisting with pre-production logistics, attending shoots, and contributing to post-production activities as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of research findings, sources, and contacts for future reference and legal compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree, we are open to different areas of discipline from journalism to history, from media to biology.
• Strong research skills with a proven ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from diverse sources.
• Deep curiosity and passion for generating ideas, storytelling, and creating engaging television content.
• Background or strong interest in prompt engineering or willingness to learn new technical skills.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities, with a track record of working effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluency in English is essential, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of research findings.
• Proficiency in using research tools and platforms, as well as standard office software and applications.
• A genuine passion for television and a desire to contribute to impactful storytelling.
