Our Reed Assessment division, a national provider of trusted and secure testing and assessments, is planning for the significant expansion of its testing operations during 2024. We are currently bidding for the delivery, on behalf of the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), of Key Stage 1 & 2 testing to all Primary School students in England. Securing this multi-million pound contract would see Reed Assessment responsible, directly and through its supply chain partners, for the production, distribution, marking and moderating of all key stage tests across Primary Schools.
We are now looking to build an experienced implementation and delivery team ready to successfully mobilise this contract from April 2024.
Travel to the West Midlands region (Birmingham) will be expected at critical points of the implementation cycle, the frequency of which will vary.

Specific duties include:
Security Management

We are looking for a litigator with experience commercial litigation and governmental investigations, in particular in the field of competition law, to be located preferably at HP offices either in Poland (Warsaw), The Netherlands (Amstelveen), Germany (Boeblingen) or Spain (Madrid) and to act at an international level as in-house Litigation Manager mainly for (1) commercial litigations in specific EMEA countries and/or fields of expertise, (2) competition law related proceedings (including requests for information from competition authorities, investigations or litigations), (3) HP patent enforcement actions across any countries in EMEA, with assistance of specialized IP attorneys, (4) legal-related governmental investigations, and (5) any other sort of disputes, including consumer class actions.

Act as HP’s leading Litigation Manager for strategic disputes and governmental investigations in EMEA region.
Be responsible for strategically managing, monitoring and/or reporting significant litigation matters in several jurisdictions in EMEA (jurisdictions and/or matters to be defined depending on place of residence of candidate, legal practicing experience, language capabilities and most appropriate split of the ongoing portfolio among team members). This may include covering jurisdictions located in Eastern European jurisdictions and include primarily commercial disputes and, when existing, competition-law related matters, but may also include disputes or investigations of other legal nature, including collective legal actions, which will be handled in coordination with HP’s in-house counsels allocated to provide general legal support to HP businesses in the country or EMEA-wide.
Manage outside counsel hired for those significant litigations and investigations with the goal of meeting Regions Litigation costs and outcomes forecasts.
Provide assistance and know how to any other HP in-house counsels on matters relating to litigation risks (early case risk assessment, litigation fees, etc.), providing an interface between them and HP’s worldwide Litigation team.
Perform the function at an international level and be required to interact intensively with legal colleagues dealing with similar matters at a world-wide or regional level.
Education and Experience:
Law school graduate with JD or LLB degree or equivalent.
Admitted to the bar with typically 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with experience working within the Litigation or Competition Law practice in a reputable law firm or in-house.
Significant experience managing multiple, complex and strategic commercial, competition law, consumer class actions and/or other specialty litigations and/or governmental investigations.
Language Skills:
English language skills to business standard required.
Fluency in languages other than English, particularly French, is a plus.
Specialized Knowledge:
Mastery of practical and academic knowledge within the field of Litigation and/or legal-related governmental investigations (particularly in competition law), and a recognized authority in one or more sub-areas within these fields.
Developed understanding of how to operate successfully in the international legal environment in the filed litigation and/or legal-related governmental investigations, preferably in competition law.
Mastery in negotiating or advising senior representatives of external and internal organizations on complex and high value/risk matters in litigation and/or legal-related governmental investigations, preferably in competition law.
