ERM is hiring an Associate Environmental Inspector to support our oil and gas client’s project in Fargo, ND. In this role, you will perform and document environmental inspections for a pipeline construction project. This is a full-time (60hrs/week), limited-term role for a duration of 8 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducting field inspections, monitoring and field survey work as directed.
Interacting with and serving as a point of contact with agency officials, regulatory agency staff, landowners, contractors, clients, and other project members.
Reviewing and implementing project documents and providing support and critical judgment on environmental compliance issues.
Critically assessing environmental conditions in the field to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction.
Evaluating potential issues and concerns ahead of construction activities.
Overseeing the proper implementation of mitigation measures.
Conducting environmental sampling (hydrostatic test water, soil, etc.) and/or collect samples of stormwater at designated locations and visually inspect the quality of the sample.
Overseeing and verifying flagging of wetland boundaries, cultural and biological resources exclusion zones, refueling zones, etc.
Inspecting and documenting compliance with a project's environmental requirements by preparing daily written inspection reports that provide up-to-date and consistent written and photo documentation of activities observed in the field.

Support compliance with environmental regulations concerning spill prevention, wastewater, stormwater, storage tanks, and waste management.
Perform work safely, complying with ERM and client requirements and always wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hardhat, safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and orange high-visibility vest.
Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
Communicate with ERM Project Manager, Senior EIs, various regulatory agencies, and client staff and subcontracts at the various client facilities. Key aspect of work is to develop relationship with client personnel at the facilities to promote environmental stewardship.
REQUIREMENTS:
0 to 3 years of field experience required; stormwater and/or construction inspection experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively and a willingness to learn and take direction from more senior Environmental Inspectors.
A working vehicle, valid driver’s license, and a good driving record; ability to drive to the various project locations. Ability to rent a vehicle, if required.
Effective observational and organization skills; experience recording detailed technical data a plus.
Effective communication skills with ERM and client staff.
Experience with water and soil sample collection a plus.
Proficient in basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel) for communication and preparation of inspection documentation.
Daily hours and duration are variable depending on the site location and work to be completed.
Given the drive times to some of these locations, some days may exceed 10 hours including site work and travel, but ERM fatigue management procedures will be implemented to avoid excessively long days.
Overnight hotel, trailer camping, or other lodging reasonably close to project worksites will be required.
Availability to normally work Saturdays and occasionally work Sundays (rarely).

ERM is hiring a Compliance Manager to oversee environmental compliance for our client’s LNG construction project in Brownsville, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of FERC compliance and NEPA and environmental regulations. This is a full-time (55+ hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of 6 months, renewable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop environmental compliance programs based on all project permits, plans, documents.
Create and monitoring environmental reporting calendars
Comb project documentation to ensure that the compliance tracker contains all obligations, actions, and demonstrations of compliance.
Complete the compliance binder (summary of permits)
Establish a tracking method to clearly demonstrate compliance with all project permits, plans, and documents, developing forms and records as needed.
Identify key personnel to contribute to compliance and develop communication/training plan so they understand their role in compliance.
Draft monthly construction status report.
Develop environmental incident reporting.
Support on permitting efforts, as needed.
Responsible for multi-media environmental compliance support; including air, chemical (EPCRA), oil (Oil Pollution Prevention), water, natural resource, and waste programs.
Develop reporting templates and review/prepare/submit environmental reports as needed, to include: EPCRA 304 and 311 and 312/Tier 2 submissions via EPLAN, attainment of stabilization notices for close-out inspections, etc.
Perform frequent comprehensive inspections of project sites and monitor contractor’s compliance in coordination with project EI staff.
Review inspection reports prepared by others (e.g. Environmental Inspector daily reports) for accuracy and completeness, assists the respective project teams in ensuring compliant/timely schedules are established and adhered to for noncompliance corrective actions and the resolution of other issues commensurate to the risk or significance.
Conduct environmental self-assessments (internal audits) to gauge respective project compliance status, reduce risk, and provide value-added corrective actions and recommendations. Assess and resolve compliance questions and issues in coordination with Engineering & Construction staff, the project teams, and client staff.
Communicate within client staff to ensure consistent interpretation/implementation of environmental regulations, permits, agreements, and internal requirements, etc.
Coordinates with vendors to perform Hydrostatic Test Water Discharge testing and confirms acceptability of contractor methods and means.
Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal for assigned projects in coordination with the client’s staff. Ensure contractor conformance to company standard operating procedures in the removal of presumed asbestos-containing / assumed PCB-regulated material (e.g., asphaltic pipe wrap).
Serve as the primary project environmental coordinator and as a liaison with external regulatory agencies regarding environmental issues.
Assist the project teams with the local public/community to resolve environmental complaints and concerns.
Provide environmental orientation training and other training to project and Engineering & Construction personnel as needed to promote compliance with environmental permits and regulations. Also, verify the adequacy of contractor training programs for their personnel relative to the respective project’s environmental requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
