Job Description:
At Regions, the Assistant General Counsel Manager is a section leader responsible for other attorneys in specialized areas. This manager leads and directs the work of other attorneys and other support staff who are responsible for providing a wide range of legal services and advice.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists the head of the corporate legal department with administrative or legal matters, including the planning, organizing, and managing of work activity assignments
- Manages other general counsel who advise members within a specialized legal area or particular business activity
- Provides counsel in cases of litigation
- Protects the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation
- Ensures compliance of laws and regulations
- Advises management on recent changes in laws and regulations that affect the company
- Directs activities of three or more General Attorneys and other support staff
- Manages outside counsel and develops strategy for litigation and regulatory proceedings
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
- Doctor of Jurisprudence degree
- Fifteen (15) years of experience
- Five (5) years of management experience
- Fiduciary trust law experience

Regions is seeking a leader to play a pivotal role in building out a legal strategy function within the bank within the context of the entire bank enterprise. This role will involve designing, implementing, and overseeing processes, technologies, and strategies to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and overall performance of the legal department. This Leader will collaborate closely with legal teams, enterprise leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, and external vendors to drive effective legal operations that are aligned with bank’s business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a legal strategy for the law department of the future and lead a high-performing team that includes all operations of the legal department as well as risk
- Identify areas for improvement and innovation within the legal department
- Continuously seek opportunities to optimize and streamline processes
- Work with other legal leaders to improve processes for all legal activities included implementation of legal technology solutions that enhance efficiency and enable better data-driven decision-making. Oversee the integration and adoption of new tools, including AI-driven platforms
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the legal department and develop reporting mechanisms to track and communicate performance against these metrics. Utilize AI-driven analytics to derive actionable insights from data
- Drive change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions during process improvements, technology implementations, and organizational changes
- Collaborate closely with legal teams, finance, IT, HR, and other relevant departments to align the legal department with broader organizational objectives
Work with the larger enterprise to develop and enforce policies and procedures related to the legal department

Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
