Job Description:
· Responsible for defining and implementing the company’s sourcing strategy across his/her categories in collaboration with the Sourcing Director
· Drive sourcing strategy to support strategic opportunities, global balance and help Meijer achieve our financial plans
· Partner with vendors to deliver high-quality, trend-right merchandise at great value for our customers
· Establish a strong supplier base and develop alternative solutions to achieve product and business objectives
· Responsible for new supplier/factory recommendations and selection
· Lead the onboarding of new suppliers/factories and continuous improvements of related processes
· Partner with vendors to deliver high-quality, trend-right merchandise at great value for our customers
· Work with a cross-function team including Meijer Merchants and Product Development teams to turn ideas into the merchandise in our stores
· Drive reduction of lead times and supply chain speed in order to help Meijer be first to market
· Utilize negotiating skills and costing expertise to ensure quality/cost, and deliver maximum bottom-line impact
· Manage multiple product categories with varying levels of detail
· Perform any ad-hoc tasks/projects when required
Requirements:
· Degree educated in business or related discipline
· 10+ years relevant merchandising experience, preferably with a buying office
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
· Demonstrated leadership skills, but must be a team player
· Ability to multi-task successfully and prioritize while meeting critical deadlines
· Travelling is required
· Fluent in English and able to communicate in Mandarin to liaise with Mandarin- speaking buyers/vendors.
