This advertisement is for the recruiting position of Science cum Admin Assistant.

If successfully selected, you will be seconded to a MOE Primary School located in Punggol Drive.

Contract Period: From 15 Aug 2024 to 14 Aug 2026

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 30 min lunch break
• Fridays: 7:30am to 4:00pm, inclusive of 30 min lunch break
• The authority reserves the right to vary the timing of the working hours when required in consultation with the contractor. Services not required on Saturdays, Sunday and gazette public holidays.

The Services required are set out as follows:

1. Management of resources

• Regular Inventory management in Science Labs including stock take, replenishing, repairs and replacement
• Assist HOD (Science) to liaise with vendors in procurement for inventory management in Science Labs
• Organise resources neatly with name labels in the Science Labs
• Tidying up of Science Labs

2. Preparation of resources

• Co-ordinate loan request from teachers in the Science Labs
• Preparing and set up of resources according to scheme of work & specifications given by teachers in the Science Labs
• Printing and photocopying jobs in the Printing Room
• Preparation of teaching aids such as cutting and lamination works in the Science Labs

Administrative duties:

Assist with other ad-hoc administrative duties and preparation of resources for the Authority as required by the school and/or department.

The personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• GCE “N” Level Certification
• 1 year of working experience in Science Lab

Description:

• Primary role is to support the administration and laboratory operations of the conservation science section as follows:
• Manage purchases according to organization. procurement guidelines.
• Track spendings and cashflow matters.
• Manage all scientific equipment preventive maintenance and calibration, including problem-solving on equipment repair, part modification or troubleshoot during breakdowns.
• Manage lab inventory such as stocktake of assets, consumables, chemicals, and reference materials.
• Manage scientific journal subscriptions for the lab.
• Carry out backing up of files in drives, archive analytical data and lab housekeeping.
• Manage equipment booking system, updates lab user guidelines, carries out lab induction for new equipment users.
• Update or draft equipment SOPs, lab safety guidelines and admin procedures
• Carry out lab routine maintenance and housekeeping (e.g. change gas cylinders and handle nitrogen liquid refills, replenishing consumables)
• Handle chemical Occupational Health & Safety (OH&SS) (i.e. Safety Datasheet (SDS), inventory, chemical store, disposal)
• Handle all equipment shut down and power on procedures.
• Assist scientists in sample preparation for ongoing analysis and research.
• May assist scientists in analysis of batch samples using instrumentation like microscopy, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS).

Requirement:

• Minimum qualification of Polytechnic Diploma or ‘A’ levels, which covered science subjects and use of laboratory with at least 3 years of working experience in an analytical science lab, or fresh degree graduates of science-related subjects.
• Experience with procurement using Workday is advantageous.
• Be proficient in MS Office and MS Teams.
• Willingness to learn and adaptable.
• Able to display good manual dexterity, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills in previous work.
• Experience working with chemicals or operating instrumentation like light microscopes, grinder, SEM-EDS, Raman, FTIR and GC/MS is advantageous.

Resource Management:

• Conduct regular inventory management in Science Labs, including stocktake, replenishment, repairs, and replacements.

• Assist the Head of Department (Science) in coordinating with vendors for procurement in Science Labs.

• Ensure resources in Science Labs are organized neatly in planning schedules and liaising with suppliers for resource acquisition.

Resource Preparation:

• Coordinate loan requests from teachers for Science Labs.

• Prepare and set up resources in alignment with the scheme of work and teacher specifications.

• Handle printing and photocopying tasks in the Printing Room.

• Prepare teaching aids, including cutting and lamination work, in the Science Labs.

Administrative duties:
